We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nürnberg. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nürnberg below.
Nürnberg, appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a story of an unexpected problem you’ve faced along the way?
In the creative journey of music production, unexpected problems often arise. One significant issue I faced was during the recording of an album where we were pushing the boundaries of sound and style.
We had planned an ambitious session, collaborating with various artists in a unique genre fusion. The studio was booked, the lineup was exciting, and the energy was high. However, just two days before we were scheduled to record, one of the lead vocalists called to inform us that they had injured their vocal cords and would not be able to participate.
At that moment, it felt like the entire project was at risk of collapsing. We had invested time and resources, and the enthusiasm of the team was palpable, making the news doubly disheartening. I felt a mix of frustration and urgency, knowing that the album needed a strong vocal performance to carry the innovative sound we had crafted.

Nürnberg, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Nürnberg was formed in the early 2010s in Minsk, emerging from a vibrant underground music scene that sought to innovate while expressing the cultural and social sentiments of Belarus. The band consists of musicians who were influenced by both local Belarusian music and international trends, allowing for a diverse range of sounds.
Musical Style and Influence
Their music often features a fusion of melodic guitar riffs, atmospheric soundscapes, and introspective lyrics, mirroring the struggles and hopes of the youth in post-Soviet Belarus. The band’s style is reminiscent of Western post-punk bands but incorporates a distinct Slavic sensibility, providing a fresh perspective within the genre.
Discography and Achievements
Nurnberg has released several EPs and singles, gaining a following both in Belarus and abroad. Their songs often touch on themes of identity, social issues, and personal experiences, resonating well with audiences. They’ve participated in numerous music festivals, further increasing their visibility and influence in the Eastern European music scene.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
During the quarantine we decided to adapt quickly. We organized an impromptu online concert, utilizing social media platforms to reach their fans directly. The virtual concert allowed them to connect with a broader audience beyond Minsk, creating an inclusive space

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFTs represent a new way to authenticate and own digital assets. In a digital landscape where art can be easily replicated, NFTs provide a unique solution by allowing creators to link their work to a specific token on the blockchain, establishing ownership and provenance. This could empower artists by ensuring they receive credit and compensation for their work.
For musicians, visual artists, writers, and other creators, NFTs can open new avenues for monetization. Artists can sell limited editions of their work in the form of NFTs, potentially generating income that traditional sales channels may not provide. Additionally, creators can program royalties into the tokens, enabling them to earn a percentage from future sales.
