We were lucky to catch up with Jessica Nicole Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica Nicole, thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
There have been many times when I wished that I had started my creative career sooner. I honestly feel like I’m just getting started, and to me, that means I’m late. I think I see it that way because I see other people doing big things in their careers at younger ages. I know everyone has their own paths, but it can be hard not to compare at times. Then, I started to reflect. If things would have taken off when I wanted them to, I don’t think I would’ve been ready in any way. I don’t think I would be the same person or think the same way if I had been on a different or faster course. Maybe I wouldn’t have thought of all the songs and concepts that I am working on now. The songs and concepts that I am super proud of and can’t wait for people to see and hear! So, it just reminds me that everything happens for a reason and as much as I hate to be patient, it’s just a part of the journey.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Jessica Nicole Brown and I am a singer-songwriter. I started writing songs when I was about 13 years old, but no one will EVER hear those haha! So far in my career, I think I am most proud of the fact that I’ve done almost everything with just me and the best assistant you can think of, my mom! With writing the songs, coming up with concepts, networking, location scouting for photoshoots and music videos, filming and/or directing the music videos, editing the music videos… Yeah, it’s a lot. But I am so proud that I am getting done! Just wait until you see what projects I have lined up!
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It’s always so rewarding to see or hear your vision come to life. The process can be long and stressful, but it makes it all worth it when everything comes together.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I’m not sure if these would be considered as resources, but I wish I knew how important, and sometimes crucial, it is to plan and to network. When it comes to releases, being able to put together and execute a plan is important when you have to collect all of the content and stay on schedule. Networking is important because a lot of the times, it’s about who you know. Yeah, it’s a little unfair, but that’s just how it is.
