Hi Christina , thanks for joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?

My Legacy is leaving my business to my boys. That’s why the business is name R&R Natural Hair Care after Ronnie and Rylan. I wanted to leave them a business that they can understand and handle. I have them going with me to Hair Shows, when i speak and making new decisions like my oils, new products and etc.. My goal is to have a school that, so i can teach these ladies how to be on there own. I will have a salon connect to the school. So i can teacher them booth rent, getting supplies, how to carry them selves as business women or men. My goal to have everyone successful! My goal is to be on Tyler Perry shows to be a hairstylist!! I’m still waiting. This is how i want to be remembered from him!! I just need one time and just to be in the back to do the hair. I want everyone to remember me by Crissy made me smile when i sat in her chair!! When i left i know i need to come back because she made me feel comfortable and she educated me about my hair!!

Christina , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Christina L Roey Aka Crissy! Everyone knows me as Crissy!! What made me to decide to do this, i was in high school and doing my own hair. I realized, doing hair really calms me and relax me and i love doing hair. I went after high school , but i end up pregnant with my first son Ronnie. So it took me 10 years to go back and i did go back. Then i went back to school and i end up pregnant again with my second son Rylan. I tried to go back to Paul Mitchell and they denied me. I didn’t realize that was a blessing and God had a bigger plan for me. So i took that “NO” and start working at a car dealership as a BDC respective i was doing that for 3 1/2 years and making good money. I wasn’t happy because i still had the love for hair and i was doing other people hair on the side. Then COVID hit and the world was shutting down. So my sister was like go back to school and do hair! I told her if she can find it and I will do it. She found the Natural Hair Program and i called Fayetteville Technical Community College and they told me they was already booked for that class. I said it was another door closing . But God open it back open for me, The lady called back and she told me a spot just open up and can i come and fill out the application. Filled out the application and i started school in September!! Finished school in December!! I had one of the best teachers Ms.Natsha Livingston and she taught me everything i need to know! She really believed in me and had me to come back and talk to her students. Ms. Livingston saying that stuck with me she still do “ If you don’t invest in yourself, who will” . What i took from that is you have to believe in yourself and you have to understand the process and understand that you going to spend money into your business and you will see the accomplishments as long as you invest in yourself! I did a lot of investing into this business, with sleepiness nights, working hard, paying a lot of money for classes and etc.. My business is about is Natural Hair Care, i educated my clients about their hair and i explain the different styles they can do and how they can take care of their hair!! Also i just graduated from Trichology School ( Kissed) in Raliegh, NC, I had a wonderful instructor Christy Vonta’. I can help my clients that are experiencing Hair Loss, I’m educated in this field to help my clients and make sure I’m treating the hair instead of putting a band-aid on it. I’m a Master Herbalist, i make certain herbs that i can help clients, if they are in pain, to help with a cold and to speed up they metabolism. Working with Natural Herbs makes me different and put me on the map because dealing with Natural Hair you have to take care of the hair but i also want to take care of the inside with my clients. I can treat the outside of your hair all day but i need to take care of the inside. One of my clients is experiencing hair loss and everyone was telling her that she couldn’t get her braids done. I end up doing her hair and treating her hair loss without getting all the knowledge but she trusted me with her hair. After doing her hair and two years later , her spot is almost gone and her hair is thick and growing like crazy! We both was crying because it was an great experience for both of us!! I was so happy that she trusted me so much!! I have another client that is going thru the process and she is trusting the process and she see that it’s working. I do have a book out “ Loc Journey” that i use for my clients that is starting locs and have Locs. Tell clients how to take care of your hair and what foods to eat and how to make special water that will make your hair to grow. The clients can write down how they feel about the hair, any questions or concerns they may have about meeting with they stylist that they might forget. My goal is to reach as much clients as possible and tell them and educated them about looking for a hairstylist. I do educated my clients a lot. I love my job, i love making people feel good when they are in my chair and i love the feeling when they leave my chair too. You need a Crissy’s shampoo and it’s the best experience that you need in your life!! Which means i can shampoo some hair!! That’s what makes my clients come back to me!! I’m a loving and caring person, I’m so passionate about my job. I want everyone to get the best experience with me!!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

What i think helped me build me build my reputation is FAITH!! I had to have faith into this job and also it goes to back with “ if you don’t invest in yourself who else will” . It sticks with me, like one story. I use to work at Fayetteville State University and one of the workers gave me a hard time and she didn’t like me. I told my self that i don’t want to come back and i want to say that I’m busy doing another job. God did what i ask for, i did my last job there. I wanted to move and better myself! I moved into my first suite , i had to pay $1,000.00 for down deposit. I was like omg, my chest hurt and i don’t want to do this. I went to the bank, on this day i saw this lady and she was in the corner by herself and she said what’s wrong and i was explaining to her that i couldn’t do it, and she said is this helping your business? I said yes it is. She said okay and you have to have the FAITH and believe that everything is going to work out. We laughed and i understood and before i knew it i was leaving the bank with my head up high lol. I went into my suite happy and understanding that everything is going to work out. Everything did work out, The place i was at blessed me into meeting a lot of people like news reporter Monquie John on ABC 11 News. I was so honored with meeting and doing her hair! She is a blessing to work with!! I end up getting a lot of clientele. I have FAITH i was able to accomplish a lot of things in five years than someone being in the business for 15 years!! I’m not finish either and i still have things to accomplish. Believing in myself and having the courage to do things.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?

I keep in touch with my clients knowing certain things about them. Like i work in a military town, so some of them i build a relationship with and i check on them to make sure to see how they are doing. I call them on birthdays, new jobs , sick and etc. When you show your client that you care about them and they will give you the same love back in return. I am my self when it comes to my clients and i never change who i am. I am blessed to have specials clients that cares and support me in all my accomplishments
