We recently connected with Jasmine Dix and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, thanks for joining us today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I always tell myself I wish years ago that this is what I was supposed to be doing. When I started my business I was actually working two jobs to make ends meet. I was working at Pilot travel center and driving for a transportation company. Something had to give. I was missing time with my kids. I was just working trying to survive I wasn’t actually living. I use to just hobby bake around the holidays for extra money until one day I made this strawberry cheesecake that was trending on Facebook an now here I am 4 years later still growing getting better day by day. I sometimes think about if I had started my business sooner than I did maybe I would be where I want to be at by now business wise. But honestly it was in God’s timing. I had to go through something’s some hardships, struggle, hit rock bottom to truly appreciate where I am today. It hasn’t been a cake walk Im nowhere near where I want to be but I’m well on my way.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve been baking for 9 years in business for 4 will be 5 years in January. How I got into baking I seen a cake on Facebook I said I know I can make that looked up the recipe for a cheesecake pulled out my mom’s recipe book for her red velvet an it was a hit Jassy’s sweet treats was born it wasn’t until a few years later that I realized it though. I feel I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing I’m walking in my truth God has blessed me with this gift. I’m so thankful for my customers for taking a chance on me letting me handle all of their sweet treats needs. I specialize in Cakes, Cupcakes, & Treats of all kind ! From baby showers, birthday parties, weddings, gender reveals any occasion big or small I take them all. My biggest accomplishment that I’m most proud of since I’ve been in business was being nominated for Best of Georgia 2021 and winning Best of Georgia 2021 regional in Desserts. At that moment I felt on top of the world all of those late night early mornings were starting to pay off. That recognition meant everything to me.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
My business is self funded. I took money form my pilot checks every payday an started ordering supplies. I didn’t have a lump sum of money saved up so it took alittle longer to get everything I needed at first. I didn’t know if it would be successful or not I just had to take that leap of faith. Hoping I at least made back what I had spent.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Social media an word of mouth.
