Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jessica Fields. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jessica thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Three days after leaving corporate, I was across the pond in Europe, starting on my own Eat, Pray, Love journey. I spent six months traveling, reflecting, and, for the first time in my life, truly slowing down. After years of hustling nonstop—pushing myself to achieve, perform, and meet everyone else’s expectations—I finally made a choice for me and how I wanted to spend the next 30 years. I wanted the freedom to travel, the independence to create on my own terms, and the opportunity to do things differently (for myself and others).
The idea for Harbor 26 Studio came from blending two lifelong passions: the structure and strategy of math with the freedom and creativity of art. Even as a kid, I loved how these seemingly opposite worlds could coexist (I almost went into architecture).
In college, I pursued degrees in Graphic Communications and Marketing because design had always come naturally to me, but I wanted to do more than create pretty visuals— I wanted to pair aesthetics with strategy to build something that could truly make an impact.
But I knew I needed a solid foundation first. So, I chose the corporate route, immersing myself in all things business—strategy, leadership, systems, processes, client relations, and more. During those five years, I learned one crucial lesson: no one has it all figured out. You grow as you go. That realization, combined with six months of traveling and reflecting, gave me the confidence to finally take the leap and start my own business.
When it came time to decide what kind of business I wanted to build, I had two clear paths. The first was starting a branding agency, creating logos, visual identities, and creative assets. But I quickly realized that branding is deeply personal, making it harder to scale and build a team, as everyone’s style and skill set is so different (and it’s not something you can teach overnight).
The second option was a traditional marketing agency, but that felt too restrictive, lacking the creative freedom I craved. That’s when I found the sweet spot: social media marketing. It lets me combine strategy and creativity in a way that serves businesses at every stage of their journey.
Whether it’s helping a business start from scratch with logo design or refining their marketing strategy, Harbor 26 Studio was built to meet those needs. Now, we get to offer full-service solutions that are as creative as they are strategic, empowering businesses to grow and stand out. I truly love what I do.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes, I’ve always been driven, and that ambition led me to dip my toes into entrepreneurship early on in college when I started freelancing. I loved the hustle and the creativity that came with it, and it sparked a passion for building something of my own.
When I made the leap into the corporate world, I didn’t give up my side hustle. I kept designing brands, planning marketing events, and continuing to build my creative skills on the side. At the same time, I viewed my corporate job as a strategic opportunity to fast-track my learning in key areas like operations, branding, marketing, and team building—skills I knew would be vital for launching my own business. It was almost like an extended internship, helping me fine-tune the tools I’d need to succeed when the time came to make the full transition into entrepreneurship.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by a mission to build a company that prioritizes work-life balance, fairness, and integrity—for both our clients and our team. During my time in corporate, I gained valuable insight into what works and what doesn’t when it comes to running a business.
Having been on both sides of the table—as an employee and now as a business owner—I truly understand what makes an employer stand out (for better or worse). I’m committed to creating an environment where work is fulfilling, but life outside of work is equally valued.
