We recently connected with Kyla Williamson and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kyla thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
In 2014 I was at one of the lowest points in my life. We were losing our home in foreclosure we were drowning in debt. We could not even see a way out of our situation. But we had faith and we knew that God had a plan for us and we knew we needed to change something. I had a very successful business being a hairstylist and my husband worked at FedEx as a driver. We had great jobs, but we felt like there was so much more that we were supposed to be doing. We were broke and spinning our wheels and going deeper in debt. I was involved in direct sales on top of my salon business. But I felt this urge that God had something more for me.
My husband and I started going to church and one day there was a guest speaker that came in and talked about the tithe. I will never forget what he said that made a really big impact in my life. He said give God your first and he’ll bless the rest. That day was a day that changed everything for our whole family. We all gave our lives to Jesus that day again and we decided to get baptized. This time it was different. It meant something different. We did this As a family my 2 boys and my husband. At the time my daughter was 3. That day my entire world changed . In a good way. 2 months later I was introduced to an opportunity to be a part of a brand new company that sold shampoo. At first I said I would pray about it which meant No but I couldn’t stop thinking about it and 5 days later I joined becuase I needed to make a house payment. That was another monumental day that changed the trajectory of our family! That one opportunity I said Yes to has led me to be able to do things I always dreamed of doing. Giving more than I could ever imagine. Helping people in ways I could hv never been able to help. We hv real estate that we get to help create amazing memories for other families at our Airbnb in Branson MO. AND We use all that we have for Gods glory.
Another shift happened in 2022, I lost my Rock my grandad—a month later I broke my foot—the day after that I was in a terrible car accident that totaled my car—had surgery and was off my foot for 4 months—July I lost my grandmother(my best friend)—had another surgery on my foot—back in the boot for months. That was enough to send someone to a very deep dark hole and I won’t lie to you and tell you there was not dark days but the one thing that held me through the most horrible time in my life was our Savior My Lord.
That is where the dream started for the 2 businesses I have now.

Kyla, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 22 years, and it’s been an incredible journey. I started out as a hairstylist in 2002, pouring my heart and soul into helping people feel confident and beautiful. After 15 years behind the chair, I took a step back, only to come full circle years later to open my very own salon and event center—a dream I never thought would come true!
My journey started in 2014, I made a life-changing decision to join MONAT when my family was facing financial hardships. Our home was going into foreclosure, bills were piling up, and I was working 60+ hours a week across three jobs, rarely seeing my family. I knew I needed change—so I jumped in and it completely transformed our lives.
Today, I’m proud to provide:
• High-performing haircare, skincare, and wellness products that are clean, naturally based, and scientifically backed.
• Consultations and personalized solutions to help my clients find exactly what they need to look and feel their best.
• A business opportunity for those who want to create additional income, flexibility, and freedom—just like I did.
A creative space for stylist to thrive and enjoy their chosen careers.
A beautiful event space to create life-long lasting memories through baby/wedding showers, celebrations, business
meetings, parties, etc…
I get to help people regain their confidence by tackling hair concerns they’ve struggled with for years. I’m here to offer real solutions with products that deliver visible results.
I provide mentorship and guidance to build a business that can truly change their lives, just as it changed mine.
I love building relationships and helping people transform their lives. I take pride in offering personalized support and care to every single customer and business partner I work with. My focus is on education, empowerment, and creating a community where everyone can thrive.
What truly sets me apart is my story—the challenges I’ve overcome and the passion I bring to everything I do. I know what it’s like to start from the bottom, and I’m here to help others reach their goals and dreams, no matter where they’re starting. In whatever venture they decide to do.
As a salon owner, my passion is to help Stylist feel, valued, appreciated, and loved. Creating an environment where everyone thrives and wins in their business. My favorite thing in the world is to help others build their business and create a life that they dreamed of.
As an owner of an event center the reward is helping others create memories that last a lifetime. It is such an honor for people to have their events at my space and allow me to be a small part of their story. Just like with my Airbnb in Branson that I run. Hearing stories of how I got to be a small part of their memory making for their vacations is literally what makes my heartbeat and what I strive for in a business to bring smiles to their faces.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has always been rooted in building genuine relationships. For me, it’s about getting face-to-face with people, networking in person, and being truly present in conversations. I live by the principle that good people refer good people. When you take the time to really know someone—being genuinely interested in their life, their needs, and their goals—you create trust, and trust is the foundation of any successful business.
When people know, like, and trust you, they naturally want to support you and refer others to you. Your reputation becomes your biggest asset. That’s why I focus on providing an exceptional experience every time, whether it’s through my services or just the way I interact with someone.
It’s about showing people that you care—not just about the transaction, but about them as individuals. When your business is built on authentic relationships, the referrals come naturally because people will want to share what you offer with others. This approach has helped me grow my business in a way that feels meaningful and sustainable.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing a team and maintaining high morale starts with creating a culture of respect, trust, and open communication. Here’s what I’ve found works best:
1. Lead by Example: Your team will look to you for guidance, so model the behaviors and work ethic you want to see. Show your passion, commitment, and positive attitude every day.
2. Set Clear Expectations: Make sure your team knows their roles, responsibilities, and goals. Clarity eliminates confusion and empowers people to focus on their work.
3. Celebrate Wins: Recognize both big achievements and small milestones. A simple “thank you” or a positive acknowledgment of hard work goes a long way in making your team feel valued.
4. Invest in Their Growth: Offer opportunities for learning and development. Whether it’s training, mentorship, or just encouraging them to pursue their goals, showing that you care about their future builds loyalty.
5. Open Communication: Create a space where your team feels safe sharing ideas, concerns, or feedback. Listen actively, and let them know their voice matters.
6. Empower Your Team: Trust your team to make decisions and take ownership of their roles. Empowering them boosts confidence and engagement.
7. Keep the Energy Positive: Even during challenging times, focus on solutions rather than on problems. Positivity is contagious and keeps morale high.
When you prioritize your team’s well-being and make them feel appreciated, they’re not only more productive but also more likely to support each other and stay committed to shared goals. Creating a family environment with support is effective to maintaining a successful business
