We were lucky to catch up with Fallon Peper recently and have shared our conversation below.
Fallon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
My degree is in Early Childhood Education.
You honestly can’t REALLY teach classroom management. You just gotta get in there and figure it out. What works for you!? Trial and error. Progress over perfection.
Same with painting. I am selective on the instructors I choose to help mold my painting approach. Their paintings move me? They’re an open book eager to share and encourage? Sign me up!
I study paintings in galleries and museums… from afar and with my nose right up to the thickest layer.
I have a bookshelf full of books on the painting process and artist biographies as well as a mountain of coffee table books filled with work of late Master artists and they do NOT have dust on them.
Now running a business… I feel sure there’s a great class for that. But at the end of the day, books, podcasts, YouTube videos, following entrepreneurs on the gram and a whole lot of gumption… it CAN be done.
I recently invested in Erica Carrico’s “Soul Business Accelerator” program and currently listening to lots of “The Goal Digger Podcast” by Jenna Kutcher. These two women entrepreneurs have a proven track recorded of establishing and growing highly successful businesses. I feel sure that there is much to learn from those who have come before me and eager to empower other like-minded women.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Fallon, an oil painter, instructor and plein air painting retreat founder & director living and loving life in Charleston, SC.
Single. Full time artist. Charleston. 2024.
Not an easy feat.
I am oh so proud of my entrepreneurial spirit and gumption in order to live out this life… it’s the same spirit and drive I always offer to each retreat attendee, painting student and art collector. When you choose to enhance your design space or your painting tool kit, you’re truly getting my heART.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
The Magic of Thinking BIG by David J. Schwartz:
“Look at things not as they are, but as they can be. Visualization adds value to everything.”
“The mind is what the mind is fed.“
“Your thoughts shape your reality. Think big, dream big, and create a life beyond your wildest imagination.“
“Belief triggers the power to do.”
“ Successful people don’t make excuses; they make progress.”

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
He unfollowed me on Instagram spring of 2020.
It crushed me!
I was painting and dancing at my easel to Christian worship music… and posted it on my art business IG account. (Pre reels era, ya know!)
“That’s NOT a good marketing strategy. You are pigeon-holing your audience.”
He thought in $ signs.
I didn’t think at all.
I just felt and expressed. Ya know, like an artist.
Fast forward to fall 2024, I’ve kept my SAME “marketing strategy”… as well as my dignity.
And he has a NEW wife…
Oh what a wonderful life!
