We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chrystian Alvarado a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chrystian, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I aim to emphasize the harmony between light and shadows. I use this contract to inspire and uplift people through visual expression of deep shadows being guided by light. In a time where depression is too common and emotional escapes are usual negative I stay to show them hope through art.

Chrystian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been doing photography since 2017 but really got seriously into the field during 2019/2020 covid lockdowns. Here I used the opportunity to explore New York City during its empty lockdowns. This helped me gain notoriety and later lead me to being featured in a internationally sold book (Tropes New York City).

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I hope to inspire and motivate people to embrace their deeper selves. Through my art I hope to share a unique perspective that gives a positive outlook among hard times. I would love for my work to stand as a beacon to those dealing with depression and no motivation.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
During covid lockdowns I spent everyday in the city documenting the emptied streets of New York during the covid lockdowns. During this time I gather a big fan base of those curious of the effects lockdowns had on the city. This gave me a once in a lifetime perspective in which blessed me with a fan base for my work.
