Charity, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
I love this question. Yes, I try to take them as often as I can. It’s so easy to get caught up in the entrepreneurial journey and the hustle to the point where you run yourself raggedy. I love the financial benefit of being self-employed but lately, I’ve been leaning towards carving out time to refuel my creative juices.

Charity, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Over the last 8 years, I have helped purpose-driven individuals increase their impact and income through branding and web design.
Admittedly, being a business owner was not on my mind at all. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA from grad school with the hopes of getting a good job. I applied to over 40 jobs and I couldn’t get a job. I even had my idea taken by a big brand and used in their marketing. It was a rough time for me. During this season, God used my family to support me. In particular, my brother started telling people about my skillset and slowly my business grew from there.
Now people come to me to help them solve branding issues such as: help with attracting a new audience, help with promoting their new service, rebranding to be in alignment with business goals, and more. I am grateful to say I love what I do. So far, I’ve designed for amazing clients from all over who have been featured HBO, BET, ABC, NBC, Ebony Magazine, and Essence.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I am sincerely grateful for client referrals. It’s helped my business grow! Clients can tell when you truly care about them. A good experience will have them singing your praises to everyone who will listen. This is my goal to exceed their expectations.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
When I first started out, I offered a wide variety of services from social media management, e-mail marketing, web design and more. Then, I started getting overwhelmed. My brain felt scattered because I was all over the place. I felt like it was too much for me to handle. Through prayer and advice from people I looked up too, I started to discontinue services no longer in alignment with where I wanted my brand to go. This allowed me to hone in on two offerings I loved—branding and web design. From here it was easier to put systems in place, hire talent to help me, and market these services. This shift allowed me to create exceptional work and people noticed. I started attracting my dream clients and my reputation grew.
