We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Yasmeen Scarab. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Yasmeen below.
Alright, Yasmeen thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
When I was around 7 years old, I began dabbling in learning about film. I knew that I wanted to make others happy and at a young age I’ve connected happiness with comedy shows/movies that genuinely made us laugh. I knew that thats what I wanted to do; to entertain others. The whole idea that I can be the reason that someone’s day was brightened just sat perfectly right with me. So that’s when I decided on a career path. As I became older, I started to go down the road to pursue acting. My whole purpose behind it was always to bring joy to others.

Yasmeen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born in Alexandria, Egypt and I knew that somehow someway I’d eventually end up living in Los Angeles. After many many moves and a lot of back and forth between Egypt and California, I finally ended up in a small town an hour away from Los Angeles at the age of 17. Slowly but surely, I was determined to move to “the big city.” My first ever acting job actually came during my stay in this small town — randomly walking down the street and saw a sign that said “Extras for a movie”. It had little to no detail whatsoever. No movie title. Nothing. I was curious. I went. And boom, my first ever acting job was 7 days on the set of ‘Fast and Furious 7’. Even though I was just an extra, it was a crazy experience that I will cherish forever. Over the span of 10 years, I worked with so many talented directors and actors like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Paul Rudd, Harrison Ford, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodrigues, to name a few. In 2023 I decided to take a much needed break from Los Angeles, and decided to move back to Egypt for a while. This would have been officially my first time as an adult living in my home country. Can we say, CULTURE SHOCK!?

How did you build your audience on social media?
When I first moved to Los Angeles, I realized that having a large following on social media was a thing. Enough for people to judge you if you hadn’t passed the 10K mark. Or God forbid you weren’t verified, *gasp*. It struck something in me, that I never want to be that person. I never saw myself as an influencer nor did I ever want to be labeled as such. I dedicated my whole growth to just being MY OWN PURE GENUINE HONEST SELF. The people who got it, loved me. The people who didn’t, didn’t. My social media growth was verrrrrrry slow due to the fact that I kept it very transparent and real. I never did anything for likes or views. I just supported other pages who were also aspiring to grow, I continued my own journey and shared snippets of my happiness to bring to others. And somehow people liked watching me just be me. My first ever big jump in my followers was when I did a comedy skit about “Being friends with an Egyptian” with SmileSquad. Truly until this day, one of the funnest things I’ve ever done. I gained about 30,000 followers from this video in less than 72 hours. It was pretty crazy.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Like I’ve said earlier, my true goal is and I think always will be to bring happiness to others. To make people laugh, smile, feel something. With what’s going on with the world and the darkness we’ve been enduring for the past couple years, I feel like it’s needed now more than ever.
