We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shannon-Nicole Pring. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shannon-Nicole below.
Shannon-Nicole, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I feel that success for everyone is dependent on how you want to define yourself and what legacy you’re going to leave behind. Especially as a very young female entrepreneur, it is a very competitive and cutthroat world with endless possibilities to explore.
A promptness to act on ideas, creating a reputable rapport with your community, and originality in your personal brand that separates you from the rest are my top three tips to live by for my own success. However, I believe that, in order to reach that monumental win for me, it’s about having that “oh my god, I finally made it” moment.
For me, success is—whether it’s multiple milestones achieved or one huge celebratory stepping stone—that feeling of knowing all your consistent effort, precious time, and persistent energy were for something you wanted to reach for, and ultimately did. It’s not about how financially rich you are, per se, as most people would consider ‘success,’ but about being rich in experience and finding immense gratification in your journey, no matter what field you’re pursuing. It’s the self-awareness of how far you’ve come to get to where you are at this exact triumphant moment.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi! My name is Shannon Pring, and I am an AAPI Digital + UGC Creator, social media manager, and editorial freelancer. UGC stands for ‘User-Generated Content,’ and I primarily specialize in producing organic creatives for businesses and brands to post on their social media accounts. I also help manage their online presence, which includes copywriting, aesthetic page layout, and implementing a personalized, innovative system that prioritizes engagement and reach with their unique audiences.
In addition, I provide professional proofreading and editorial services to fiction authors in the Young Adult/Romance genre. As a bookworm with a hopelessly romantic persona, I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with talented writers—whether they’re working on their first novel or are already published authors. I assist them with a range of needs, including correcting grammatical and punctuation errors, refining character development, enhancing plot structure, ensuring narrative flow, and providing constructive ‘tough love’ feedback throughout the process.
I’m proud to say that I’ve always been tech-savvy, even as a little girl. Growing up during the rise of YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram it inspired me to pursue a less traditional, yet creatively fulfilling career path. With that in mind, being chronically online as a full-time job is truly a dream come true for my younger self!
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Non-creatives can often be in the dark about how gratifying it is to share an artistic piece of yourself, regardless of its outcome. It’s kinda like show and tell. To me, it’s freeing not to have to conform to a monotonous routine because every day there’s something that needs to be filmed, painted, sculpted, scripted, etc. It’s not one thing or the other; it’s, “What can I make today that really showcases my strong abilities and skill sets?” and then turning it into something beautifully artistic.
I also enjoy the fact that this is not a conventional career path, yet it’s becoming a growing trend amongst myself and the younger generation. This is a controversial topic, as many think it’s not a profitable way of earning a living. However, there are creators out there who are widely known and well-off simply by picking up a camera or brush and making it stick. It’s what we’re good at—so why not chase a dream and achieve success doing both? We’re breaking societal standards and expectations, and we’re investing everything into our personal branding. It’s very much a high-risk, high-reward route.
Our journeys, although heavily based on trial and error, help us find individuality within ourselves. People resonate with whatever shape or form that takes. It’s broad and always open to interpretation and consumption.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Oh my gosh, there are so many—how do I even choose? If I had to pick just one, the book that completely altered my brain chemistry and gave me the courage to take the biggest leap of faith in my career was Buy Yourself the Fcking Lilies* by Tara Schuster.
Talk about a book speaking directly to my soul! Her free-spirited humor and blunt writing style really hit the spot for me. Back when I was freshly 20, I was completely lost and constantly having meltdowns about how empty, unfulfilled, and left behind I felt. I was a college dropout with nothing to show for myself and miserable at the thought of taking on a traditional 9-to-5 job. Schuster writes about faking gratitude until you feel it, identifying self-limiting beliefs, learning to keep what’s truly important, and letting go of what isn’t. Most importantly, she emphasizes the importance of showing up for yourself—even when it feels like there’s no way out of the hole you’ve dug—by creating a life you genuinely love.
After reading it, I began to notice opportunities I had drastically overlooked—opportunities that had been waiting for me to take action. Fast forward a few years later, and one of my all-time favorite hobbies is now a part of my full-time job!
