We were lucky to catch up with Katie Doyle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Katie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
The life event that change the trajectory of my career was when my father passed away from cancer. At first this may sound odd to you, but our personal and professional lives are intertwined and so much of what we experience personally influences us professionally and vice versa. I was 36 years old and I had a great job, but I noticed that my passion for wellness and healing was always pulling at me and speaking to me with that little voice in the back of my mind. I had been searching for over a decade for what my true calling was and I often felt frustrated and unclear as to the answer, always second guessing myself and listening to external influences instead of listening to my intuition.
Then when my father passed away, I knew I had to make a decision to go for my happiness or to stay where I was comfortable. I choose happiness, I choose to fully delve into and apply the 10 years of classes, workshops, and trainings that I had participated in and not just become a yoga teacher but to become a Wellness Entrepreneur. Since making this decision I have become a certified Reiki healer, a Holistic Health Coach, Meditation Instructor, Sound Healing Facilitator and Miami’s only Certified Mindful Outdoor Guide!
My dad’s journey from diagnoses to death was a little over a year and a half, and during that time I really tuned into my spiritual practices for guidance and support. I leaned heavily on the self-care tools that I had been honing for over a decade and learned the power of mindfulness. Every opportunity to spend with my Dad, every minute, became a precious gift. Having the ability to be with him during his battle, and during his final days, without turning away, without numbing, without disassociating was an opportunity that a lot of people don’t get to have. Losing him taught me an invaluable lesson; life is too short to NOT pursue your passions and the darkest moments in your life are springboards for greatness. I finally let go of the fear and took the leap into entrepreneurship and I have never looked back!
Katie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I founded Bloom Burst in 2019 to make whole-body wellness accessible to both corporate and private clients! Did you know that the average American spends 11 hours a day on a screen and 90% of their lives indoors? We know that a sedentary lifestyle, chronic stress and anxiety have now become widespread issues, and we are at a risk for burnout when we don’t address these issues. Overwhelmed by both personal and professional obligations, prioritizing self-care and wellness can feel like an unattainable goal.
As a wellness coach I work with two buckets of clients, corporate and private clients. As a corporate wellness advisor I work with HR and management to design a workplace wellness program that fits the needs of their employees and culture. We work together to build a comprehensive wellness program that aligns with their company’s mission and vision, there is no one-size-fits-all approach.
As a private wellness coach, I work with “busy professionals” to help them understand the impact of implementing a daily wellness routine, I work with them to to eat better, sleep better, and stay consistent with wellness rituals, as well as provide them with the tools so that they can feel clear minded, balanced and strong in their body to look and feel your best. I do this through a signature coaching program called “Embodied by Nature” to reset their nervous system. We focus on creating wellness rituals to integrate into your daily life to connect with yourself and live more intentionally, the pillars of my program are: Daily movement. whole-foods, quality sleep, time in nature and establishing a gratitude practice.
I am certified in a number of healing modalities and I offer a full suite of wellness services to both corporate and private clients: Yoga, Meditation, Reiki, Sound Healing, Wellness Coaching and Mindful Outdoor Experiences.
All these modalities together is what helped me create the Bloom Burst Method which helps men and women in corporate settings or struggling with stress, it helps to unravel the feeling of being constricted, tired and worn out and to emerge into a state of blooming. That is why I choose the name Bloom Burst.
Launching a new business at the end of 2019 a mere few months before the Covid-19 pandemic shut down the world was definitely a challenge, but I am proud of myself for pivoting and persevering. I pivoted to all online services and managed to not only survive quarantine, but to book new clients. I have worked with global corporations including: Bumble, Carnival Cruises, Bacardi, Kaufman Rossin, rbb communications and Gecko Robotics.
I am passionate about the healing powers of the natural world and I was recently certified at the Kripalu School of Mindful Outdoor Leadership as a Mindful Outdoor Guide, making me the only Mindful Outdoor Guide in Miami! This type of service is so needed in our world and truly can provide deep healing that I am grateful to be able to offer this as an experience to clients.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I am definitely on my path, I wouldn’t change a thing, and I am grateful everyday to have found my calling!
I did a lot of work on myself,a lot of soul searching, before deciding to launch a wellness business and spending that time looking inwards paid off. I have never been more certain that I am on my “path” finally in my professional life. I believe that we all have strengths to pull from, some are learned and some are innate, but either way they are our gifts to share with the world. I spent most of my career in marketing/events leading up to creating Bloom Burst and I was always left feeling unfulfilled and confused, I didn’t ignore these feelings I leaned into them. I explored, I wrote, I asked questions for guidance, I followed the “bread crumbs” as I call it, meaning that when I noticed I felt particularly interested or passionate about a topic I would start to learn more. Ultimately it took creating a lot of space for reflection and quiet time for me to hear the answers. There is a quote that we have all probably seen hundreds of times “When the soul speaks listen.” This is exactly what I did, and I am so happy that I did!
I am an introvert and deeply empathetic so these are character traits as a young person in the corporate world seemed undesirable, I was always working against them, trying fit a square peg into a round hole! Once I realized that these character traits were gifts and not flaws then I started to learn how to use them to help heal others. My soft nature, soft voice and calm demeanor are the exact qualities that attract clients to work with me now. Isn’t it funny how life works out? Always be true to yourself.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Reliability, having respect of others, consistency, passion, showing up, eagerness to learn, and going out of my comfort zone.
I was raised in the mid-west and my mid-western values run deep, I was raised to always be accountable for my own actions, to honor my responsibilities and to treat other as I wish to be treated. Consistency is huge to success, we often think there is a magic equation when you see a successful person but more often than not it is old fashioned grit, sticking with your values and showing up all the time as the best version of yourself. You will not be recognized as an expert in your field right away but if you work hard and believe in yourself you will continue to grow and one day soon you will be the leader, the expert that people come to for advice.
