We were lucky to catch up with Alexander Pesante recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexander, thanks for joining us today. One deeply underappreciated facet of entrepreneurship is the kind of crazy stuff we have to deal with as business owners. Sometimes it’s crazy positive sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?
One of things I learn being an event organizer, I need to make sure I am able to know a little bit of everything within in my event. Whether its production, electrical, or how to develop a stage. One time a long of our equipment was on one outlet & eventually the power went out. We ask the venue on the breakers & they said it was fine. From there, we found our one extension cord completely melted. We got a replacement & learn to do research on circuits to ensure it would never happen again. Never in my life I thought I need to always need to ask for the locations of each circuit in a building.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
When I started college, I wrote a report on the Gamification Theory for my honors English class. The concept is adding to engage with consumers, employees and partners to inspire collaborate, share and interact. I wanted to show people can come together with multiplayer games to do something good. I was able to get approval from the campus president at the time to host a charity & raised $500. From there, I wanted to continue hosting events & with the support of my business partner Arris Whittaker, I was able to get the owner of a Hookah shop called Juicy Hookah Lounge to start hosting gaming tournaments there. We continue to grow & now host at multiple hotel ballrooms & a LAN center called Ready Game Begin. Even able to get hired with multiple events hiring us such as Holiday Matsuri, CEO Gaming & more.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth. We notice we keep getting more attendees with their friends who been to our events. Then their friends tell their friends or they praise us on social media.
Any advice for managing a team?
Always stay positive even when things look grim or not going your way. When a mistake happens, they prefer not to make a scene. They know the messed up, so we don’t need to remind them. Focus on what we can do to correct it instead of telling them what they did wrong.
