Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachael King
Hi Rachael, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My career started in the tech startup world, where I specialized in content marketing and PR, and I’ve always had a deep-seated love for the audio format in my personal life. In 2014 I moved to Los Angeles, where podcasts became my savior from the monotony of traffic, especially “The Read,” “Judge John Hodgman,” and “Death, Sex & Money”
As the success of Serial signaled that podcast listening was going mainstream, I realized that most brands would need help navigating this emerging communication channel. Recognizing the potential of podcasts to create a deep, engaging connection with audiences, I shuttered my PR agency and set up shop as the first branded podcast agency in the US.
Today, Pod People is a robust content marketing agency working with brands like Netflix, HBO, Bon Appetit, SoFi, Intuit, Teach for America, and Electronic Arts to create and promote compelling video, audio and social content from conception to execution to maximize reach and engagement of a specific, targeted audience.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely, Pod People encountered several challenges during our growth. One of the significant struggles has been navigating the competitive landscape of the podcast industry, which requires continuous adaptation to new trends.
When we started out in 2018, podcasting was primarily an audio medium. Now, 60% of the our clients’ podcasts have video episodes as well as audio, and we have a robust social team to create short-form social video clips to help raise awareness and amplify the message of the show far and wide.
Another challenge has been managing the logistical complexities of producing content for various high-profile clients that may have internal red tape, lengthy approval processes, or even regulatory concerns. But we pride ourselves on providing the best client service in the business, as well as creative problem solvers who are endlessly resourceful no matter the hurdle in front of us.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pod People?
