We recently connected with Jennifer Resurreccion and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jennifer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
In a way, yes, but also I didn’t start of 2024 with the goal of being a content creator. I decided back in August. At the time I my beloved Papa had passed back in July and I was looking for something to fill the void in my heart so I turned to my absolute favorite anything: Pokemon! I wasn’t even sure it would really go anywhere. I just wanted to meet other fans that enjoyed Pokemon like me. Had I started sooner, even a year sooner, I think I would have had a stronger start as I was in Japan last year and had a lot of opportunity to create content. Looking back I don’t have any regrets about when I started. With the uncertainty of my Papa’s health I think past me just wanted to focus on being there and supporting him and now that he is no longer with us, I can move forward as he would have wanted for me.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello! My name is PikaPijenn and I’m a content creator! I started as an Instagram account sharing my collection and travels. but I was a little discouraged with the low view count. I thought my videos could perform better so I started posting on a whim to Tiktok and I was really surprised! I couldn’t believe so many people were interested in watching me open packs of Pokémon cards. What sets me apart, is I’m generally interested in cards, even the common cards that aren’t worth much. When I get a new card for my collection I make sure it’s clearly labeled as new in the video. I think the viewer enjoys seeing how the collection has grown and being apart of it.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I always do a ton of research before making choices and it was the same with being a content creator. I look for what other creators are doing, I watch a lot of videos and read forums about starting out and look for tips to apply to my own platform. My best advice for anyone looking to build a social media presence is to engage with your followers and other creators. If someone likes and comments on your videos, you should like and comment on theirs as well. Focus on building your community of support just as much as your content.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I would love to work with the Pokemon Company as a content creator! Haha!
