Hi Mariset, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Since I was a little girl I always liked the art of makeup, my first experiences were doing makeup for family and friends, but at that time I didn’t see it as a career. Years went by, I studied and worked in things not related to the creative and artistic world, until 2020, when the pandemic started, I decided to start my Instagram page where I posted some makeup that I did, people liked it and I started to have followers. As a result of that, some companies contacted me to do collaborations doing product reviews and I did makeup work for some events, it was there that I realized that I could work in what I always liked.
Mariset, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raised in Cuba, but I always wanted to have a better future for myself and my family, so when the opportunity came to move to the United States, I took it. As an immigrant, I had to work in different kinds of jobs, but my passion has always been makeup artistry and everything related to beauty, so I decided to start practicing my makeup skills and opened my Instagram page to post my work.
As a makeup artist, I love to create all kinds of looks, from Natural to Halloween. I’m known for listening to my clients and making them feel and look the way they want to, highlighting their unique features. I also love my work as a social media content creator because I like to share my experiences with others, whether recommending products, places, food, makeup trends, etc.
I’m proud of everything that I’ve accomplished and for not giving up no matter what. I think that’s one of the things that sets me apart from others, and the fact that I work hard for what I want.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What motivates me to follow this path is being able to earn a living doing what I am passionate about. Also, being a mother and wife, allows me to be more present in my family’s life.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
At first, I didn’t have many followers but as my content improved, so did my page. My advice is always to be yourself, post content related to your niche, find what is trending on social media, and engage with other people with similar interests
