We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Oscar Ayala a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Oscar, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Really, I practiced everyday. Starting off I wasn’t as nice as I am now but I was genuinely always interested in music and that kept me wanting to try more and work to be better. I used to freestyle all the time, everyday, and any chance I got I would write. Knowing what I’ve learnt over time, I could honestly say that I could’ve been more open to working with and reaching out to other artists/creatives. It’s obvious that majority of this work takes skill, and some would also say it takes a lot of creativity as well. I say both statements are true, but skills such as having an ear for the art you wanna make is vital. Just as vital as penmanship, just as important as flows/vibes , just as crucial as the hunger and hard work that is required. A few things that I can admit to being obstacles, really, I used to be insecure about my work, wasn’t as confident about my career and used to always want others to validate me. That resulted to a lot of bodies of work either not ever coming out or being finished. I also wasn’t used to going to actual studios at all at first, and times I would go it would be so foreign and overwhelming cause I wasn’t use to it yet. When first starting to take music serious I used to depend on my friend to do alot of my work, him being my first main producer and at the time my only engineer (P2ACurlii), so the knowledge I had for engineering and production was bits and pieces of what I could remember my homie do before or I had none at all and learning from scratch seemed really intimidating at first.

Oscar, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
“kidRacso”, CEO of “Pesos2Acquire/PesoArtistry”. An independent music Label & brand. Home of the “PesoChaserz”, ‘where there’s always Pesos to Acquire & your Artistry is priceless!’
“kidRacso” is an independent music artist, based out of Nashville/Antioch , Tennessee. Upcoming mixed Mexican artist, with influences that range from greats like Young Dolph, Mac Miller, Wayne, Wiz, Travis Scott & Heavy influences from the west coast as well with most of my family being from Cali. “So I was listening to artists like Kendrick, listening to oldies and Chicano rappers like Lil Rob, and plenty other west coast natives. Was also a huge fan of the boom bap rap vibes, and the east coast sounds like Joey Badazz and J.Cole. But I won’t leave out local home city legends, like Starlito and one of my favorite Memphis rappers Don Trip.”
I can genuinely say I’ve always seen myself being an artist/musician. As a kid, I was fascinated with music and it didn’t matter if it was me dancing or singing or rapping songs, I always knew and felt I would follow this career in some way. Also being something I would really be having fun with and enjoying.
As an artist and also as an independent brand and label, I am always gunna be a student of the game and always learning. Whether it’s my penmanship, or engineering, production, or business endeavors and consistent work. I’m proud of it all, the growth and the development. Mostly I can only see how far I’ve come, with an exception of few that got to either experience with me or got to ride along to see it all as well.
Being an artist it’s key to always be confident, but I was also heavily raised to stay humble and work hard. I’m a huge believer of phrases like “to each their own” & “people all have different opinions/tastes” so that leaves me to say this, Check Out My latest collab project w/ “Saint Chevelle” our Ep “Survivor Series” is OUT NOW on All music streaming platforms! Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Being the best version of myself, the most elite version of myself that I know I can be is what pushes me and drives me to continue and pursue this journey! I’m not done learning and won’t ever be, I can always do better and be better for myself and those who need me, sometimes that also influences those around you or in the environment to be the best version of themselves as well.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Genuinely, Support is the keyword. Society usually is very quick to pin new or unknown artists/creatives next to main stream or popular examples and begin to compare or sometimes suggest to attempt to sound and/or look like existing or favored artists.
I say let creatives/artists be themselves, let them have fun and support them discovering their own sound or work of art. Society can be helpful on shedding light on communities, where creatives and majority of society can come together to uplift thriving ecosystems that bring change & opportunity.
