Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mi’lisa Idora. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, MI’Lisa Idora thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
When I first envisioned building Soulcial Therapy, I dreamed of a serene brick-and-mortar sanctuary with lots of natural light and gold and white decor. I imagined women walking through the doors and immediately feeling the warmth, intention, and healing energy. Instead of diving straight into a physical location, I started with what I had and where I could—mobile sessions, small gatherings, and collaborations with other wellness spaces. Each step has been a lesson in flexibility, perseverance, and staying rooted in my mission to help mompreneurs harmonize business and family demands with self-care and intentional living.
One of the pivotal steps in my journey was securing a room within my chiropractor’s office. It was a small but powerful milestone that allowed me to create a dedicated space for clients, even if it wasn’t my original vision. Hosting a variety of wellness events across Metro Atlanta also gives me the opportunity to connect with women on a deeper level, fostering a community rooted in sisterhood and mutual growth. These experiences continually teach me that creating space for healing isn’t always about walls and a roof, but about energy, connection, and intention.
Balancing the demands of entrepreneurship, motherhood, and self-care requires constant recalibration. I’ve had to let go of the idea of perfection and embrace progress instead. To anyone considering starting their own practice I’d advise you to start where you are. Your vision may not materialize all at once, and that’s okay. The journey is just as important as the destination, if not more. Commit to the process, but don’t lose sight of your own well-being. When you build from a place of alignment and care, the energy you create will naturally attract the right opportunities and people to help you realize your dream.

MI’Lisa Idora, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Mi’Lisa Idora, the founder of Soulcial Therapy, a community designed to empower entrepreneurial women to harmonize their personal and professional lives through intentional self-care and intuitive coaching. My journey into this space was born from my own lived experiences. Five years ago, I was unexpectedly laid off. That moment that forced me to reevaluate everything and led me to pursue entrepreneurship full-time. Two years later, as a new mom, I found myself struggling to balance motherhood, my dreams, and self-care. Through that journey, I discovered that the tools I’d been using—journaling, meditation, Reiki, and sound therapy—weren’t just survival tactics; they were the transformational tools need to to lay a new foundation for a thriving life.
Through Soulcial Therapy, I blend my skills as a Reiki Master, sound therapist, and ICF-certified life coach to offer holistic services that nurture mind, body, and soul. I provide one-on-one coaching, group sound baths, and mobile Reiki sessions, in addition to hosting sister circles and small gatherings. I also offer tools like affirmation cards, journals, candles and aromatherapy mediation sprays that can be used to integrate intentional self-care into everyday live. My work is rooted in the belief that wellness isn’t a luxury but a necessity, especially for Black women balancing motherhood, entrepreneurship, and everything else. The problems I help solve range from managing stress and finding clarity to breaking free from overwork and burnout.
I’m most proud of the sisterhood that has grown around Soulcial Therapy. It’s more than a business. It’s a movement to help women step out of hustle culture and into flow. I want readers to know that my work is grounded in real-life challenges and triumphs. I’m not just teaching these practices—I’m living them daily. My ultimate dream is to open a physical space where women can come to reset, recharge, and reconnect with themselves while also supporting other wellness practitioners on their journeys. Whether through a sound bath, a coaching session, or a journal prompt, my mission is to help women create the life they can’t stop dreaming about and remind them that they are their own greatest investment.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My journey to creating Soulcial Therapy is a testament to resilience. After being unexpectedly laid off I found myself at a crossroads. Rather than letting the setback define me, I decided to embark on the path of full-time entrepreneurship. I started my first business Social Society Creative Group, a social media management company for nonprofits and small businesses. I poured the skills I had honed working in Corporate America into building my own business. As I nurtured my clients growth, I simultaneously planted the seeds for my own success.
When I became pregnant my confidence wavered. I questioned whether I could manage both my business and motherhood. The early months of being a new mom were all-consuming. I debated whether I should return to a corporate role for stability. In that challenging season I learned an invaluable truth: balance is a myth, but harmony is attainable. I began creating new business routines while learning to navigate the demands of motherhood. Amidst juggling these responsibilities I realized that the woman at the center of it all—me—was struggling. I felt overwhelmed, drained, and disconnected from myself as I adjusted to my new reality.
Journaling has always been a lifeline for me, a way to process and document life’s complexities. It became my refuge during this time, helping me unpack the feelings of burnout and isolation. As I wrote, I confronted a hard truth: I was pouring into my business and my baby but neglecting myself. This realization sparked a shift. I began to prioritize my own needs by asking for help with my son, carving out moments for myself, and honoring what my body and spirit needed be it rest, self-Reiki, spa days, or time with friends.
This season of self-discovery inspired me to create tools that I personally needed to heal and reconnect with the woman within: my 21-Day Journaling Fast Workbook and my affirmation card decks. These products became tangible extensions of my journey and now serve as tools for other women navigating similar challenges. Resilience isn’t just about pushing through tough times. Resilience is about recognizing when to pause, recalibrate, and show up for yourself. That’s the foundation of Soulcial Therapy: creating harmony, even in the chaos, and empowering other women to do the same.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
The story of Soulcial Therapy is one of many pivots, but one of the most defining moments came when I was unexpectedly laid off from my full-time job. It was a moment of uncertainty, but also one of clarity. I realized being laid off wasn’t just an end, but an opportunity to finally take control of my own narrative. In that moment I decided to pivot from corporate life to entrepreneurship. I used the same strategic marketing skills I developed throughout my corporate career to help small businesses and nonprofits grow their presence and impact.
Another significant pivot came after I became a mother. I’d built a thriving business, but when I found out I was pregnant, I was suddenly overwhelmed with questions: How would I manage motherhood and entrepreneurship? Could I do both, or would I have to give one up? The first few months as a new mom were humbling to say the least. Having less than 30 days of “maternity leave” I was running on fumes, uncertain of how to navigate this new season. That’s when I had the realization that changed everything: balance was impossible, but harmony could be achieved!
I pivoted my routines, my expectations, and, most importantly, my mindset. I allowed myself to ask for help, to rest, and to reconnect with my own needs. This shift didn’t just save me, it became the foundation Soulcial Therapy was built on. I integrated practices like journaling, sound therapy, Reiki, and mediation into my life to create a new sense of equilibrium. These weren’t just tools for me; they became the offerings I now share with others.
Each pivot has taught me to embrace change as a catalyst for growth. Whether it was shifting from corporate life to entrepreneurship or learning to harmonize entrepreneurship and motherhood. Every turn has deepened my purpose and enriched my vision for Soulcial Therapy. I’ve learned that pivots aren’t detours—they’re necessary redirections toward alignment and authenticity.
