We were lucky to catch up with Daniel Rodenhizer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Daniel thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I’ve learned most of the skills that have helped me grow in my career by taking on new & challenging projects (even when I didn’t feel 100% “ready”) I don’t know that I could have done anything to “speed up” the process of learning. It’s an organic process that takes time. Rushing doesn’t help. What does help is being open, working diligently towards goals that are specific to your own endeavors and being confident you can be an asset to a new client. The most essential skills have honestly been working hard, being kind and generous, having a good attitude, and staying committed to learning and adapting. Pretty much everything is an obstacle, haha! But when you realize that you can thicken your skin, buckle down, and make real headway.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a film buff, movie nerd, video Production specialist, and lover of great storytelling. I’ve gotten into “the business” (though I’ve always felt like I’ve worked on the fringes of what would be traditionally called “the industry” after studying filmmaking in college and working for a couple film production companies.
I provide Live-streaming video Production services, traditional video Production & editing, and consultation related to any video or visual related endeavor.
I’m proud to have worked on a range of projects and clientele shows(Live fitness, Vogue Fashion Week, New Yorker Festivals, Comedy Podcasts, United Nations Climate events, and more!)
The most important thing about my work and my services is that I only work with people & projects that I love and care about! That way I’m invested in the outcome and I enjoy the process (making it better for everyone) Life is short. And there’s a lot of “Content” out there. I want to work with people who share not only my creative vision but have a great attitude and positive mindset like myself.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Recently I had a client that I’ve worked with for several years that ended the working relationship. It was a large project that took 30-40 hours a week to support. I’m in the process of “replacing that income” with more clients. It’a a challenge but ultimately an opportunity to learn, grow, adapt, and make lemonade out of lemons. And I love lemonade.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Go out of your way to support unique works of art! Any support for a bold, original artistic vision is greatly appreciated. It will facilitate and encourage more unique, challenging works of art that are edifying for all.
