Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Wilson
Hi Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
While I was pregnant with my 2nd baby girl in 2023, I came up with Mombie Inc. It stemmed from my very own self love journey & my love for fashion.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Let me start off by saying that starting a small business is not for the faint of heart. It takes a lot of blood, sweat & tears but it is worth it. As the shop is still fairly new, my main struggle is building a following on social media. That being said, I put myself out there constantly & it is paying off. I’ve done 3 pop-up shops so far & have 2 more coming up! I’ve noticed that being face to face with people helps build shop recognition in a major way.
We’ve been impressed with Mombie Inc, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Mombie Inc is a mama owned shop. I sell clothing & accessories. My specialty is sassy/fun designs + comfy clothes. What I’m known for is promoting self love, self worth & personal empowerment. I want you to wear my merch (no matter who you are or what you look like) & feel like a baddie. Everything in the shop is unisex – from the bags, to the tees to yes, even the baby tees! The shop is very body positive & all inclusive.
I’m most proud of the fact that I just went for it & started the shop & am helping others feel good by simply wearing something that they may not have worn had it not been for the shop & the way I promote it – “If you like it, wear it!”
How do you define success?
Success isn’t just an achievement. It’s also how much you are involved in your work and how dedicated you are. My approach is rooted in empathy, as I myself have struggled with loving myself & my body. I like to think that my shop is a safe space. I wanna be able to help others on their own self love journey & I think that alone shows how involved & dedicated I am.
