Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Smith

Hi Ryan, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?

I’ve been involved in multimedia production from a young age. In my adult years I’ve provided music and hosting at events around Washington state. After DJing a friends wedding, I fell in love with it and decided to open my own company providing DJ services to the public. Ever since I started, it’s been an amazing experience with trials and tribulations that I grow from. Nothing has been more rewarding than seeing what I’ve built and watching it grow. Knowing that I’ve done it all by myself and gotten to where I am now it a surreal experience!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Some of the biggest struggles I’ve faced mainly has to do with dealing with people. It can be hard in the planning process when you come across someone who doesn’t communicate well or sometimes at all. Being able to do your best and adapt to change is paramount to being a DJ. You have to be able to make decisions quickly and be prepared for anything when it comes to events and weddings.
Another struggle is not being well known when you start out. It takes a while to get traction with a business. You look around and see other DJs who’ve been doing it a while and they are booked completely for the next year or two while you struggle to get bookings in general. Things like this can make our inner demons bring us down but it’s important to keep going and push through. It just takes time!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Level Up Mobile Entertainment is a wedding and event DJ service based in Boney Lake, Washington. With an emphasis on weddings, private events are also a specialty. This year I’m excited to announce The LUME wedding package that covers all wedding needs in one easy price. With a growing list of add on services like up lights, additional time, subwoofers, and glow sticks, clients can truly get the complete package.

One thing that I’m proud of, and that sets me apart from others, is I treat every event like it’s my own. If something needs to be done, I help. If there’s trash on the ground, I don’t walk past it, I clean it up. Going the extra mile every chance you get will always set you apart from others who don’t have passion for what they do. To them, it’s just another gig. To me, it’s my life. My clients know that they are getting someone who truly cares. From booking, all the way through to the day of the event, I’m there for my clients every step of the way.

I’m inspired by my late father who was in the wedding industry as I was growing up. Seeing his dedication and hard work really rubbed off on me. I was able to see first hand how going the extra mile can really pay off. He is no longer with us and now that I have my own business in the same industry, I hope to carry on the spirit of family while I get to often times be a part of other families major life events. There has been nothing in my life that has brought me more awe and wonder as I watch this thing grow and touch so many lives.

I’m so excited for what the future holds as I continue to serve the pacific northwest and I’m surrounding myself with positive people like friends, family, other DJ’s etc. I’m so lucky to be where I am and I wouldn’t be here without them.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?

One of my favorite childhood memories is visiting my grandma during summer break. She lived in San Francisco so coming from Washington, it was always a pleasure to experience life in the sunshine. It was a trip seeing how people lived in such an interesting area that was vastly different from what I was use to. We did everything one would do while visiting San Fran. Golden gate park, bridge, Alcatraz, beaches, etc.
