Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Graham
Hi Tyler, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Talking about myself isn’t the easiest, but here goes! My journey as a photographer began in August 2012 while I was studying Art/Graphic Design at Shippensburg University. My first photoshoot was an engagement session, quickly followed by a wedding. Photography has always fascinated me because it not only captures a moment in time but also offers a glimpse into the creative mind and perspective of another person.
Since then, my career has been an incredible rollercoaster. There were times when I felt like giving up, thinking I wasn’t making progress and that my efforts were in vain. But instead of quitting, I chose to keep learning, growing, and connecting with other creatives to sharpen my skills. This persistence has paid off, and now my business has grown to the point where I’ve been invited to photograph New York Fashion Week again this September.
Beyond photography, I’m also a graphic/web designer, event producer, DJ, actor, and drag performer (under the name Alanis Moresex). I love being creative and expressing myself in various ways. I’m currently working on several exciting new projects and can’t wait to see what the future holds!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely been a journey full of ups and downs. There have been countless moments where I’ve considered giving up. I’ve faced challenges like resisting the urge to compare myself to other creatives, dealing with the highs and lows of having a packed schedule one month and almost no shoots the next, and even losing money on equipment that didn’t live up to expectations. I often find myself questioning everything, but then something amazing happens—like being invited to photograph New York Fashion Week—and it reminds me why I keep going.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a versatile photographer with a background rooted in modeling, LGBTQIA, theatre, products, and more. My work spans various genres, allowing me to bring a unique perspective to every project. I’m most proud of my ability to showcase individuals as their authentic selves, capturing the essence of who they are in a way that resonates deeply. Additionally, I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to photograph New York Fashion Week for the second year in a row, which has been an incredible experience.
What sets me apart is my willingness to step outside of my comfort zone and explore new and creative concepts. Whether it’s a genre I’m familiar with or something entirely new, I embrace the challenge and bring my full creative energy to each project.
