We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandon & Lindsay Lutz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandon & Lindsay below.
Brandon & Lindsay, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
One thing that sets us apart in our industry is the fact that we are a husband-wife team. We meet with our couples and serve them every step of the way, and there is no doubt of the service you receive from us from the very beginning. In fact, we often find ourselves saying to one another at the end of a big wedding day how thankful we are that we are doing this business together. Without the other person’s balancing skill set we wouldn’t be nearly as great at rolling with the punches!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
We first met in a film class when we were randomly assigned as project partners. We worked well together and couldn’t help but notice a spark (at least, that’s how Brandon tells the story). At the end of the project, we went out for what was supposed to be a celebratory, totally-not-a-date coffee. Little did we know, that would be our last/first “not–a–date.” These days it’s no secret that we love weddings — but it’s way more than a job for us. We believe the season just before couples get married is one of the most special times in their relationship. We discovered that as an engaged couple and see it over and over with our clients now. As they prepare for their future, it’s our absolute joy to walk alongside them, most especially on the first day of their greatest adventure — the wedding day!
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
So, the funny story that comes with “how we started”, is that Brandon initially was freaking out about the initial cost. We were already buried in student debt and in-the-red every month. The idea of spending an extra $500 on training for a hobby was straight out of crazy town, and he made sure it was known. After a little convincing, we both agreed that it couldn’t hurt to have a side gig down the road that was helping spread the eggs into multiple baskets. Ironically, the one thing that helped us get out of student debt was the success of our business. Had we not taken the leap of faith and dove into photography on a whim with the promise to at least make the money back that we spent … we would be living a whole different life today!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Our social media presence has come from committing to being consistent, showing up on platforms where our brides are, and trying to interact with the people with who we would like to serve/work alongside. It’s very easy these days to focus more on the number of followers or likes that your content gets — but we’ve found that the quality of who interacts with you is way more important than the quantity. After all, we’re in the business of serving people … and we’ve only got two sets of hands. It might just be a fishes and loaves situation when we do get too big!
