Alright, Madison Lorraine thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?

I think in any creative industry, it’s easy to be misunderstood by your work. Not everyone is able to see from the same aesthetic and creative perspective, but that’s the beauty of it. I have the ability to offer services and insight that others may have not thought of before. I love being able to have that influence.

As I’ve pursued the fashion industry since I was young, many acquaintances misunderstand how my passion was capable of turning into a career. I’m proud to pursue what I love, whether it ended up being successful or not from other’s perspectives.

Some tend to be surprised when I mention my career role, as a “wardrobe stylist”.
I’ve discovered my niche client, who have lifestyles where it’s necessary to know how to dress and look your best. My clients want to feel confident and put together, and that’s what me and my unique services offer. My job is to curate a client’s everyday individual style, and tell a story through aesthetic outfits.

Madison Lorraine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

In 2023, I started ‘Madison Lorraine LLC’ based in south Florida. Madison Lorraine offers wardrobe styling for your everyday capsule wardrobe, along with event, resortwear, bridal, and freelance photoshoots. I work with clients of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. I offer my services in person, virtually, and open to travel for personal clients. I’m always accepting new clients for those interested in my services as well.

My clients are motivated to look and feel their best, but may not have the skills and knowledge to make that happen on their own. My services take away the added time, stress, and discouragement when shopping and deciding what to wear. I am proud to help individuals discover their own personal style, in a unique way.

There are many behind the scenes challenges working as a personal stylist. It is not all glamorous, as it involves years of slugging around loads of garment bags and boxes, tackling never ending to-do lists, and many late nights of behind the scenes prep. It has been a challenge managing work load starting on my own, as I continue to grow and set myself up for long term success.

When thinking about the title/description of a wardrobe and personal stylist, you typically only think a service like that would be offered to celebrities or editorial styling. I not only have the opportunity to style an everyday client’s wardrobe, but I have a unique, personal service and relationship with each client.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

Styling clients is such a rewarding career by simply having the opportunity to encourage my client’s to feel their best self through fashion. I mean, who doesn’t feel amazing in a glamorous outfit? It’s a distinct and special service, being able to work one-on-one with clients and their personal lives. Fashion supports and reflects an individual’s confidence, which can be so meaningful. I really love it all!

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

As I continue to develop and grow, resources are constantly being discovered and supportive my creative journey.

I wish I took more advantage of online and social media presence/resources when I started. It is now something I am focusing on to continue to grow.
Networking, connections, retailer partnerships, and taking on new opportunities have been the key to my success so far.
