Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Destiny Fordham. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Destiny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
In August, I launched my podcast SOULABOR Speaks, which interviews everyday people on life’s greatest challenges. I’ve always believed that everyone has something to contribute, and this space allows people to get real and authentic about what’s happening in their lives or past mistakes that they’ve overcome. As a Christian, coach and facilitator, I believe that there is a power in storytelling and that we can gain so much wisdom from hearing about how others have overcome certain challenges in life.
This space is meaningful to me because it provides a guide for individuals growing up with a mentor, or who maybe feel alone in personal struggles to hear other people validate their experiences. So far, we’ve released two episodes on self-love and both have been highly successful! What I am most proud of is that the podcast is reaching various audiences from different backgrounds, age groups, etc. making it a relevant space for everyone.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As an entrepreneur, educator, and DEI advocate, I’ve spent my career weaving the threads of social justice, authenticity, and empowerment into the fabric of the workplace. This passion for driving meaningful change led me to create SOULABOR, a platform dedicated to helping organizations build inclusive spaces that foster healing, reflection, and growth.
Through SOULABOR, I’ve partnered with organizations to design and deliver DEI-focused training, challenging systems of inequity while empowering individuals to show up authentically. These transformative moments of shared learning inspired the launch of SOULABOR Speaks, a podcast that amplifies the voices of everyday people navigating life, love, and the complexities of the workplace.
SOULABOR Speaks isn’t just another podcast; it’s a conversation—a space where vulnerability meets courage. In every episode, I sit down with individuals from all walks of life to discuss self-love, legacy, career development, and the power of consistency. The stories we share explore how to rise above challenges, embrace authenticity, and find strength in community. Our guests are people who inspire through their lived experiences.
If you’re seeking actionable insights, heartfelt stories, and a podcast that feels like sitting down with a trusted friend, SOULABOR Speaks is for you. It’s more than just a show; it’s a call to action—a chance to reflect, grow, and build a legacy rooted in equity and authenticity.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I pull inspiration for SOULABOR Speaks from so many different places—music, books, podcasts, sermons, even celebrity stories. I love how each medium offers a unique way to dive into life’s lessons and share them with my audience. Sermons, in particular, really resonate with me, and I often tie the messages I hear into the stories and reflections I share on the podcast. At the same time, I’ll draw on examples from public figures—like how an actor overcame adversity or embodied resilience—to bring those lessons to life in a way that feels relatable.
The variety helps me approach the same topic from different angles, keeping it fresh and engaging for listeners. Maybe a biblical concept or a DEI practice doesn’t immediately click for you, but a song about resilience or a story of a famous person bouncing back from failure might spark something familiar. That’s the beauty of pulling from so many sources—there’s always a connection to be made.
Everything I listen to, read, or watch plays a role in how I curate each episode of SOULABOR Speaks. It’s all about finding ways to meet people where they are and keep the conversation meaningful, relatable, and impactful.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is that it’s perfectly fine if not everyone appreciates what you do or how you do it. Early on, I struggled with wanting to please everyone, thinking I needed to shift my tone, style, or views to cater to others. However, I quickly realized that trying to mold myself to fit other people’s expectations only made me lose sight of who I truly am.
Now, I focus on creating from a place of authenticity. I have to see myself in everything that I do. When I center my work around what feels meaningful and true to me, it resonates in a genuine and impactful way. Not everyone will connect with it, and that’s fine. What matters most is staying rooted in my purpose and ensuring that what I create aligns with my values and vision.
Authenticity has become my guide. It reminds me to trust the process and to know that meaningful work will always find its audience.
