We were lucky to catch up with Sophia Eris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sophia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The project that is the most meaningful to me that I’ve worked on is one that I will be releasing under my group MAKR AN ERIS March 2025 entitled LILITH. I have been working with my producer MAKR for 4 years now, and this will be our 3rd project as a duo. This project began last year and encompasses so much adventure & exploration of what we are truly capable of. It is the first time that we are able to create an entire universe behind it, encompassing art, sculptures, visuals, & history of our past. The title LILITH is a double entendre, one that acknowledges the story of LILITH (The first official woman in the Bible before Eve that was demonized because she didn’t want to be dominated by Adam), & one that acknowledges the name my Grandmother called me in my dream 2 days before she died, LILITH. It is a story of rebellion, freedom, feminism, power, and claiming what is truly your own. We chose March as the official release date because it is woman’s history month, and without giving too much away, I am excited to debut our first single off of it on Dec 7th during my artist of the month residency at The Current. I can’t wait to share this universe with you.

Sophia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Sophia Eris , and I am an Artist/DJ residing in Minneapolis, MN. In my career I have graduated with a Music Business degree, became the touring DJ for Lizzo, co-hosted Morning Show on air for GO 95.3, (one of the most forward thinking hip hop stations in the country), worked with Prince, wrote and released multiple collaborative projects, & became a teacher of Music Business. Out of all these accomplishments, I still feel in many ways I am just getting started. As an official artist full time, I can now confidently say I have done my work in shedding every ounce of fear inside of me that I have been aware of in order for me to blossom into the true mastery of my craft. My goals are to continue to build & share my gifts with the world while encouraging and helping others to do the same. I have graduated into becoming a servant to my gift, and I understand that my success & happiness will be revolved around that. My ultimate job, like any artist, is to continue to stay inspired.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I had to unlearn is fear. When we are younger fear is instilled in us from many different angles– from our parents for our safety, from society for capitalistic power based reasons, an those around us that are insecure in there one purpose within the world. The journey I’ve been on is eliminating all of those filters of fear by continuing to follow my curiosity & gaining wisdom from each pursuit. Art is the opposite of fear, and that is what changes the world.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
