We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ciera Wallace. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ciera below.
Ciera, appreciate you joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I have been blessed during this transition to full-time working on my craft and passion to serve small business owners and start-ups. About 4 Months ago I was let go from my full-time job and was then able to pursue my passion Full-time. At first, the journey was tough, trying to cope with challenges like the loss of my father, rejection, depression, and so much more. I can say that it has been a journey. I realized that I could take care of what matters most, my family, work with whoever I wanted, can manage my time the way I needed. Every day I pray and set my calendar for time to spend with my kiddos, focus time, and time for meetings with my clients. I can get more fulfillment this way. The revenue will come. My Husband has been my biggest fan, he reminds me to keep going each day. My Parents showed me the importance of hard work and I saw them both let go of their dreams so I could learn and gain the education I needed to pursue mine. My Father told me before he passed that it was time. The time is to make my dreams come true. My Aunt has also been encouraging me to keep going. It’s hard work. It’s not easy, you will feel many emotions during your journey but keep going as best as you can.
Ciera, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Ciera Wallace, I am a daughter of Jesus Christ, a wife, and mother of two little ones. I started ny business because my good friend Alexis Smith of Uplift Realty Group inspired me, I wanted to build her a website, that offered another place for clients to learn about her brand and services. This all happened during 2020 when finances were tough and I had just become a mom of a then infant. I felt so inspired and empowered to do something I have never known that God gave me a gift of building something beautiful and purposeful for other small businesses.
Since then my brand has grown and I am officially focused on PNLLC aka Planet Neptune LLC. My husband, children and family are truly wonderful and support my lifelong dream to become a business owner.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Recently I have learned that not only being a web designer helped my clients but marketing, branding and UX design has been a major pivot in 2024 for Me. studying and implementing new skills has been a great journey.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I was working for a Marketing Agency in 2023 and stopped working on my business and let my clients know I was closing, I felt like it was better to help someone else accomplish their dreams and use all of the skills I had learned in 2020 then after losing 4 close family members my grandparents, my cousing and my Father, from 2023 to 2024 then losing my job at the agency, it was time for me to put my business back to work, for my family. Through grief 😔 and depression one day at a time it’s worth making your dreams come true one small step at a time. I’m so grateful that I had the skill to help my family and the belief system to keep going on. If it hadn’t not been for God I don’t know what I would be doing and learning that business is up and down at times. God has always made a way for me and my family. I am forever grateful. I can’t list everyone by name but I am so grateful for my husband Kevin and kids, who had seen the late nights, the tears, the prayers, the moments I wanted to give up and the moments I kept pressing forward. My Dad Allen Sr. Who always rooted me on and helped me get this far with out giving up ( Rest in Peace Dad) I thank my mother Constance, my aunt Christina, my siblings Nevaeh and Allen Jr. for prayers and love.
