Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandon Aharan Asher Mashack . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brandon Aharan Asher, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
I was raised very blessed in my household in Austell, Georgia by two loving parents from New York; on top of that I had my grandparents on m dad’s side living with us for many years. I was raised in a “Godly” household, especially being that my dad, Baron Mashack was a minister (now pastor of New Destiny in Fort Lauderdale), and my mom, Denise Mashack being a very supportive wife. Even though I was extremely rebellious, they raised me in the way of the Hebrew Scrolls (Bible). I was constantly fighting in school, having to go to different ones from time to time. I even got pulled out of Bryant Elementary for fighting in 2nd grade, which caused them to put me in Biblical Private schools; although I still got in trouble from time to time, they helped me become better. My parents weren’t perfect. My dad has told me in the recent years how he wishes he didn’t spank me so much (nowhere near abuse) and tried to understand my strong will, but I know I still received more love than most brown kids growing up. He raised me to be man, strong, self sufficient, and to follow what I believe my purpose is. My mom nourished me as a mother should, giving me my softer sides. I rarely saw them get into bad arguments even though they had their disagreements; they unashamedly showed open affection towards each other, which further molded my chivalrous side as well. My grandparents were no less an influence on my life, further backing what it is to be a man and teaching me Biblical principles. I eventually got over my anger issues as a sophomore in high school, after getting into a fight that caused me to punch an officer. I knew i had to change then, because I could end up dead or in jail that way. We moved to South Florida in 2010 which was a huge change for me, but that further diversified my mind. All of this experience created the man and entrepreneur I am today, and I still have never had to ask them for anything financially since I moved out in 2015, back to Georgia from Florida.

Brandon Aharan Asher, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My fitness journey began while I lived in Florida, the state of the half naked lifestyle. I was pretty “overfat” at the time and grew insecure of my point chest & nipples & overlapping belly. I would wear a rashgaurd swimshirt with an even tighter shirt under it to the beach; this was how I kept my bodyfat pushed in & hidden when going on any watery trips. I decided to start the Shaun T Insanity workout videos to lose bodyfat; it about the hardest thing I’ve ever done physically in my life at the time. I lost 20 pounds in 2 months then started to run & hit the neighborhood gym. Over time people started to ask me for advice since I made such quick progress & at my first official gym, Snapfitness, the gym manager Alex suggested I become a trainer. I was also trying to workout my grandparents at the time… grandmother having MS & granddad with bad knees. I wanted to try reversing the damage to their body, which really fueled my desire to become a fitness coach.
I started personal training at Snapfitness , then moved back home to Ga in 2015 to begin my own life away from family. I transferred from Snapfitness Miramar eventually to Anytime Fitness, but once the gym manager there told me I couldn’t give my clients nutrition advice I planned to build my own Get Gains Or Get Gone LLC & quit. While there, this passion grew to children’s book authoring to spread exercise to kids, allowing me to tour Atlanta schools hosting workout classes and events; I even got to do a couple of graduation speeches, travel outside the states, & even work with Chance the Rapper’s family. The irony of all of this is that I had bad anger issues as a child and often got into fights, even having to go to another school eventually; I was use that testimony to reach the worst kids though & even started mentoring with Cobb Mentoring Matters. I was still graphic designing since I had a bachelors in the field at the time and for a few months I taught Art & Fitness at the Boys & Girls Club AW Matthew’s for Kindergarten through 12th grade. It was stressful, but it was fulfilling.
What made me stand out as a coach was being specialized in Blood Types, which allowed me to help heal many people from different diseases & illnesses. On my Thumbtak profile, I have a pretty long experience list; I also prioritized grocery shopping with clients & even praying & mediating with them when they couldn’t mentally focus on the workouts.
Now I have plans to eventually move to Kenya & travel in between there & the States to start meal prep, education, & fitness endeavors!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I remember when my Anytime Fitness gym a manger first told me “you’re not allowed to meal Plan for your clients”. I then realized how dirty the gym industry can be, knowing nutrition is the key component to health even though exercise helps too. It fueled me to never want anyone to have to tell me how to help my clients again, but I realized I had to change things about myself before becoming an entrepreneur.
For 3 solid months, I read my Word, prayed, & meditated every morning to focus on my goals & my purpose. I concentrated on taking negative characteristics out of me and putting characteristics in my that a business owner should have. I studied the gym industry and duplicated certain concepts into my business as far as how to get leads & sell coaching. I saw my business grow to make more money than I was making at Anytime, and that March, I decided to leave to start my own journey as Get Gains Or Get Gone LLC.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that you have to sell your business to everyone. I believe it can be stressful to try to just get any and every client. I had to grow comfortable with realizing that I should only focus on those who connect with my business model & me as a person. It’s “personal” training anyways & so I feel a person should be almost as comfortable with you as a medical professional, since we are the ones trying to keep them out of the hospital & off meds. What & who is for you is for you & if you trust in Yah (God’s) will for your life, then what’s meant to happen will happen.
