Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patricia Clason. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Patricia, thanks for joining us today. Can you share a story with us from back when you were an intern or apprentice? Maybe it’s a story that illustrates an important lesson you learned or maybe it’s a just a story that makes you laugh (or cry)?
Tell us about your background of your business and yourself.
My study of Tai Chi is what led me to personal growth and wanting to learn more about why people do what they do.
I am now a lifelong student and have done deep learning in the fields of psychology, emotional intelligence, business, coaching and marketing.
The more I learn, the more I teach, the more I want to learn and share that with others.
I started by doing seminars on how to organize seminars. I became a public speaker to promote those seminars and then expanded the topics that I teach, writing a lot of workshops, articles, and contributing to several books.
It is important to me to practice what I teach, to walk my talk, which is very rewarding and satisfying. I know that what I am sharing with others is practical, usable, and valuable. The joy of sharing tools for successful living and watching people build prosperous and satisfying lives are what keeps me going.
What inspired you to pursue your profession?
A deep drive to understand people, motivation and the process of success – and the emotional and spiritual satisfaction and reward of seeing people lead happy, healthy, prosperous lives. I want to understand how the brain, body, and emotions work together. That is what drew me to psychology, neuro-science, and emotional intelligence. It is such a new field and we are learning so much due to new technology that there is always more to learn and utilize.
What would you like readers to know about you?
I have been able to weather many storms and traumas in my life because of my skills in emotional intelligence and resiliency. Practicing the basic skills and returning to them when times are tough is what gets me through.
So when I am working with someone, I can speak from strong self-efficacy to guide them to their own wisdom, their best results and their next step.
I’m down to earth, realistic, and practical, while holding a big vision for myself and for the world.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am most proud of having led over 600 retreats, helping people to release emotional baggage and find peace of mind and heart. I took the workshops I had developed and turned them into an online program – Successful Living Basic Training. The program provides the core skills needed for a satisfying, productive and prosperous life. Because of my life work with veterans through Healing Warrior Hearts, all veterans can get the Successful Living Basic Training for free as acknowledgment and gratitude for their service https://www.successfullivingbasictraining.com/
I practice what I teach, so I know it is doable and practical. You can do it too!

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
It is important for me to balance my life. My parents both died at a fairly young age (63) and there have been other major losses in my life. I became committed to appreciating and being with those that I love and not taking them for granted. Without relationships and love, all the material success eventually becomes meaningless.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your firm or practice?
I didn’t put together capital. I found creative ways to barter, share, work for, etc. to get what I needed to promote and market myself. I have not ever borrowed money to pay for marketing or other expenses. I was determined to not create debt.
I spent a time on the “rubber chicken” circuit, talking with groups at their meetings/dinners without a fee, just so people would get to know who I am. It worked.
I taught for continuing education in colleges so people would see my name and my reputation would build. I wrote articles and sent them to television and radio stations so they would interview me (those were the days before the internet and social media).
I believe that creativity and resourcefulness are as important as money/capital.
When I had my daughter in 1986, I knew that I wanted to be around for her and so I adjusted my vision of a national career, traveling a lot to speak, to working locally and spending time with her. While I sometimes think I could have, should have, accomplished more in my career, I see her living a full and abundant life and I know I made the right choices. I’m grateful for all I have been able to do and what is yet to come!!!
