Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Locvhontvs. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
LOCVHONTVS, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I’d say all my projects are meaningful so it’s hard to say which is most meaningful.
My most recent project that I just dropped is my debut album “Angel On Demon Time.” I think it reflects a lot of who I was before my healing journey. Although I have outgrown most of the songs on that album and the mindset I had when writing it, I felt it was necessary for me to drop the album for me to move on. I think it’s important to show growth as a person and an artist. I think honouring those parts of your life that no longer resonate with who you are as a person now, while evolving is meaningful in itself. That being said – I am now working on my next album called “Soft Girl Era” where the content is more intimate and relatable to my current life. I have songs on the album about love, about my son and about loving myself. So I guess you could say this is the most meaningful project so far.

LOCVHONTVS, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am 31 years old, I live in Vancouver and a Mom to my 14 year old son. I have Cree Indigenous roots from Sandy Bay Saskatchewan and Montevideo, Uruguay.
I first started my music journey about 2 and a half years ago. It started as a hobby and now is a passion as well as a business. It is one of the main things that has helped me change my direction in life.
Most of my career has been focused in Hip Hop. For the last 2 and a half years I have performed at many venues in Vancouver and surrounding areas. I have been hired for to perform at different events from club shows to community gatherings. This is the first year I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel for my music. Just this year I went to Victoria BC, Pritchard BC, Dease Lake BC, Timmins Ontario, Albuquerque New Mexico, Lummi Washington and Bellingham Washington. This year was also the first year where I was hired to do youth work with my music and I really hope to explore that more in the near future.
I’d like to think I’m pretty diverse with my music. I can do the baddie, club banger type music but can also do raw and conscious storytelling. I’m most proud of my growth as I am exploring new genres, singing more and changing the direction of content I want to put out.
I am also apart of a Hip Hop group called “Real Ones” with Tiago Vasquez and Cash Jr. Real ones strives to inspire those who grew up in adversity to make positive changes to their life and to show folks if they can do it, you can too! Our music brings uplifting vibes and healing energy while speaking our truth.
This journey has been really fun so far. I have made some really great friends and meaningful connections through music. I’m so grateful for all the opportunities as of yet and am so excited to see where it will take me next!

Have you ever had to pivot?
Shortly after I started music is when my life changed. It was essential for my survival to pivot in business and in life. I isolated myself and was engulfed in a lifestyle that was unmanageable. I struggled with addictions and had various forms of hustles that were killing my spirit. I knew I couldn’t continue to do these things because it was dangerous, but also because I was going to be in the public eye. Music was my way out. It is also my natural high and form of healing and therapy!

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think some people may think that Im trying to blow up or that I’m wasting my time. Blowing up has never been something I cared about. I think when it comes to something you’re passionate about, it is never a waste of time. If it makes you feel good, then you should do it. You never know where trying something new can lead you. I never ever knew I could make money doing music. I just did it because it made me feel good. It’s not even about money either but if you can get hired to do something you love, then why wouldn’t you? I also think stepping outside your comfort zone is necessary to truly live life. Societal structures can keep us trapped. In my opinion, art is what truly frees us and you can create anything you want. I love seeing what other people create too. It’s beautiful. You may even be so lucky to inspire some people along the way.
