We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Natalia Campos a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Natalia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The candle making came up when I wanted to switch up my fundraising to collect money for the children at Morristown Medical Center. I wanted a way to keep the fundraising fresh and updated. It has since evolved and I’ve added Reiki Infused candles. Most recently I collaborated with a foundation to make candles for the care packages. Loving Light Candles is rooted in giving back, To see a child smile when they pick their gift card or a Mother lighting a candle for some peace and comfort.

Natalia , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Reiki Master Practioner and really didn’t practice until a few years ago. Most recently stepping into this roll. I have alway been very creative.( I was a hairdresser prior to this).
All candles are made with 100% soy wax & use all clean fragrances along with being safe for pets.
Most recently adding Reiki infused Candles to the rotation. I want to make a candle that makes you feel good when you light her up, because she’s a she. hehe
What I really want everyone to know is this started as a way to give back. It was a way to see the children at Morristown Medical Center smile even when they’re going through chemo treatments. A reason to smile through this

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Oh the stories I could share. I think the hardest and most rewarding is overcoming being sick in 2011. That was the year EVERYTHING changed for me. You see I was hairdresser since 1999 but in 2011 I suffered multiple strokes due to Lupus and had to learn to live life again. I had to heal. I had to learn how to write, drive and even how to put eyeliner on again. Life threw me a big curveball and I had to decide if I was going to stay in myself pity or keep moving and adapt to a new way of being. I think where my resilience comes in is that I wasn’t going to stay sick. I was going to heal and come back better than ever. I did. It took a lot and a long time but I have done it.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
That time would be 2011. I went from being a hairdresser to not knowing if I” ever be able to do hair in my life again. I never went back full time and I have since then done a lot. The most recent being the candles. That went from just fundraising to now selling my candles. I have learned a lot since 2011 but I’m a better person for it and best of all I have stories for days!
