We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Monica Tyson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Monica below.
Monica, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry
One of the most inspiring trends in the estate sale industry is the growing emphasis on sustainability. More and more people are recognizing the eco-friendly benefits of shopping secondhand, and estate sales are emerging as a powerful alternative to mass-produced, disposable consumer goods. This shift not only aligns with global efforts to reduce waste but also promotes a deeper appreciation for quality craftsmanship and timeless design.
A perfect example of this trend happened during a recent estate sale we hosted for a retired architect. The home was filled with beautifully preserved, solid-wood furniture and unique decor items that had been lovingly curated over decades. Rather than ending up in a landfill, these pieces found new life in the hands of buyers who saw their potential. A young couple outfitted their first apartment with a stunning mid-century dining set that would have cost three times as much brand-new. Another buyer repurposed vintage doors into a one-of-a-kind headboard for their bedroom.
The sustainability aspect doesn’t stop with the buyers. On the seller side, families are finding comfort in knowing that their loved ones’ belongings are being reused and cherished, rather than discarded. So it’s a win-win all around and it feels good to know this business also helps the environment in its own quirky way.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Monica Tyson and I am the owner of Vintique Finds estate sales. My journey into this industry was somewhat serendipitous. I always thought I would end up in the fashion industry, but here I am! Growing up, I had a deep appreciation for history and storytelling, especially as it connected to the objects around us. I’d spend weekends exploring flea markets with my parents, and I loved hearing the stories behind every piece. After high school, I started selling vintage clothing and sterling jewelry at local Souther California flea markets. I was replenishing my inventory at estate sales, and was transfixed at being able to walk into, essentially, someone’s life and then it just clicked—this was the perfect blend of history, human connection, and business. This isn’t just about selling though—it’s about creating connections and ensuring that what matters most to our clients, is treated with care and respect. Especially because of their emotional transitional time, that we will all have to face one day, regardless of the situation. It truly is a humbling experience.
At Vintique Finds Estate Sales, we offer a full concierge service, from the initial consultation, to emptying out your home, in a period of two weeks. Our goal is not just to sell items but to preserve and honor their stories while connecting them with new owners who will appreciate them. For our clients, we provide solutions during some of the most transitional times in their lives—whether they’re downsizing, handling an inheritance, or moving.
I’m most proud of the trust our clients place in us. Whether it’s uncovering hidden treasures in an attic or helping a family navigate the emotional process of parting with a loved one’s belongings, we aim to provide a sense of relief and satisfaction. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the joy on a buyer’s face when they’ve found a piece they love or the gratitude from a family when we’ve exceeded their expectations.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Working diligently and having patience and understanding from both your clients and customers is crucial to building trust and fostering long-term relationships. Be genuine in who you are and yours words and approach. Authenticity builds credibility. Patience and empathy go a long way in creating a positive experience for everyone involved.
In today’s competitive market, having an online presence is indispensable. Opening a Yelp business page, for instance, is a highly effective way to showcase your business and build trust with potential clients. Reviews from real customers provide social proof that your services are reliable and high-quality. There’s nothing more powerful than authentic feedback from those who have experienced your services firsthand.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Alot of my followers actually came from influencers attending sales. I would recommend to stay active on your business page. Post stories everyday, even if it’s not directly about your company, but something relevant to your industry, like a meme. Follow other accounts that have similar interest. And make sure to reply back to your DM’s. Hashtags! I highly advise not to buy followers, as it can affect your organic algorithm. It will grow, it just takes time. Don’t lose faith. And don’t be afraid to pay for advertising, whether it be Yelp, Google, Ig! It’s an investment in yourself!
