We were lucky to catch up with Rayvin Miller recently and have shared our conversation below.
Rayvin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
SavageSkillWork was born from my passion for basketball and the drive to help others excel both on and off the court. Having experienced firsthand the transformative power of discipline, coaching, and hard work, I realized my purpose was to empower athletes to unlock their potential. This mission is deeply personal—it’s about giving back to the game that shaped me and inspiring the next generation to dream big, work harder, and achieve greatness. My vision is to build confidence, skill, and resilience in every athlete I train.

Rayvin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Im Rayvin Miller, the founder of SavageSkillWork, a basketball training company rooted in my lifelong passion for the game. I’ve played basketball at every level—from high school to college to playing professionally overseas—and it taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of relentless effort. After retiring from playing, I realized my purpose was to share these lessons with the next generation and help athletes unlock their potential.
SavageSkillWork offers one-on-one private training, group sessions, and detailed film analysis to refine skills, build mental toughness, and elevate performance. What sets me apart is my holistic approach: I combine psychology with coaching to teach not only physical skills but also the mental strategies athletes need to succeed. My sessions are hands-on, intense, and personalized to push players beyond their limits and transform them into confident, game-changing athletes.
The thing I’m most proud of is seeing my clients grow—not just as players, but as individuals. Watching them build confidence, exceed their own expectations, and achieve their goals reminds me why I started this journey.
What I want potential clients and followers to know about SavageSkillWork is that it’s more than basketball training—it’s a mindset, a commitment to excellence, and a community dedicated to turning good players into great ones. My mission is to create an environment where athletes can thrive, and my future goal is to build a gym that embodies this vision.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Building my reputation in the basketball training market has been rooted in three key factors: consistency, results, and connection. I consistently provide high-quality, detail-oriented training that focuses on both the physical and mental aspects of the game. My results speak for themselves—clients leave sessions not just better players, but more confident and disciplined individuals.
Additionally, I’ve prioritized strong relationships with my athletes, treating each as more than just a client. Word-of-mouth referrals and trust within the community have significantly helped solidify my reputation.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One moment that stands out in my journey is when I transitioned from being a professional basketball player to starting SavageSkillWork. After playing overseas, I faced uncertainty about my next steps. Despite the challenges, I used my experiences to fuel my passion for coaching, dedicating myself to building a brand that helps athletes develop both on and off the court.
There were times when resources were limited, but my resilience came from staying focused on my mission and working tirelessly to provide high-quality training and inspire others to reach their full potential.
