We were lucky to catch up with Jose Zamora recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jose, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents have always worked tirelessly to provide my two younger brothers and me with the opportunities we enjoy today. Both trained engineers in Mexico, they could have led a comfortable life there. Instead, they made the brave decision to leave their families and comfort zones behind, moving to San Diego, California, to ensure a brighter future for their sons.
When I was 12, my dad took a leap of faith and started his own engineering business. His motivation wasn’t just to build a career but to create a flexible schedule that allowed him to be present for me and my brothers, driving us to sports practices and extracurricular activities. Watching him navigate the challenges of entrepreneurship inspired me to take the same bold step as an adult and open my own business.
One of the most valuable lessons my dad taught me was about the importance of customer service. He always said, “Take care of the customer, and the money and opportunities will follow.” That principle continues to guide me in everything I do in my chiropractic office today.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey to becoming a chiropractor was inspired by witnessing the transformative impact chiropractic care had on the lives of people close to me. My wife, a dedicated dental hygienist, developed severe neck pain and shooting pain down her arms just six months into her career. It was chiropractic care that changed everything for her, allowing her to continue doing the work she loves pain-free. Without it, her career might have been cut short.
At the same time, I was the head coach of a competitive year-round swim team. I saw firsthand how chiropractic care gave my swimmers an edge, helping them recover faster, move more efficiently, and perform at their best. These experiences showed me the profound power of chiropractic care—not just to relieve pain but to unlock potential—and inspired me to dedicate my own career to helping others achieve their goals and live without limits.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Other than training and knowledge, I believe one of the most critical factors for succeeding in chiropractic care is building trust and a strong connection with patients. This starts with truly listening to them—taking the time to understand not just their symptoms but also how their pain impacts their daily lives and goals. When patients feel heard and valued, they’re more likely to trust your care and engage fully in their treatment plan.
Empathy, communication, and consistency are also key. Explaining the “why” behind treatments in a way patients can understand helps them feel confident in their care. Showing genuine compassion and treating each patient as an individual fosters a positive relationship that goes beyond just the physical adjustments.
Ultimately, success in this field isn’t just about improving spinal movement; it’s about improving lives. A chiropractor who can combine clinical expertise with a patient-centered approach is far more likely to make a lasting impact.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
During my journey to becoming a chiropractor, one of the most defining moments of resilience came when I made the decision to go back to school. Pursuing my dream meant stepping away from the stability of my previous career and relying solely on my wife’s income to support our family. It wasn’t an easy choice, and it required careful planning, sacrifice, and unwavering determination.
There were moments when the challenges felt overwhelming—balancing a demanding academic schedule with family responsibilities, staying focused on long-term goals despite financial constraints, and managing the doubts that inevitably creep in when you’re taking such a big leap. But through it all, my wife’s support and my vision for creating a better future kept me going.
Looking back, those years of sacrifice and hard work shaped me into the person and chiropractor I am today. They taught me the value of perseverance and the importance of staying true to a vision, even when the road is tough. Now, I strive to bring that same resilience to my practice and inspire my patients to overcome their own challenges.
