We were lucky to catch up with Susan Eacho recently and have shared our conversation below.
Susan, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I want people to remember me as a caring, intelligent helper. I want to enrich other people’s lives by helping them think through life’s “what-if’s” and prepare for the unexpected. I want my customers to confidently trust they have an advocate who will go along side with to help them through what may come.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. In some ways, I suppose I’m still searching for the answer to that. I stumbled around after college and found myself working for a franchisee of a staffing company. It was there I learned how a small business worked and how impactful small, independent businesses could be for the owner, their teams, their customers, and their communities. After several successful years with that company, I decided I wanted to own my own business.
I went to work for State Farm as an employee in order to learn all I could, and to eventually become an agent. Twenty-one years as an agent of State Farm has allowed me the opportunity to build a business by helping people. We provide a powerful set of products and services, including home, auto, and flood insurance, life and supplemental health insurance, business insurance, banking products, and even pet insurance! Every product we provide helps someone solve a problem, protect what’s important, and plan for the future.
My business enriches the community and makes a difference every day. I employee a team of professionals. Together, we develop relationships with our customers so we can help them face life’s uncertainties. We also invest time and money into our community, helping others in need and supporting good works of others.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My existing customers are the very best source of new customers for my bus. Referrals are free to me, and they produce extraordinarily rich results. When one of my customers recommends my agency to a friend, the relationship with the new customer starts out on a very good foundation.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My focus on relationships. I prefer my team spend more time developing trust and assurance that we are the good neighbors to be relied upon than simply “making a sale”. When a customer connects with my agency, I expect that customer will be comfortable and confident they have a team who cares about them. After many years building my personal brand, I believe we have achieved that reputation.
