We recently connected with Jessica Landaker and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica , thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into the heart of things. Outsiders often think businesses or industries have much larger profit margins than they actually do – the reason is that outsiders are often unaware of the biggest challenges to profitability in various industries – what’s the biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
I would have to say that my biggest challenges right now to profitability is just getting my name out there, and dealing with the whole marketing and advertising aspect of things which has been quite the struggle for me.
I just keep telling myself that I am my biggest fan so, keep pushing on. So far even though I have wanted to throw up my hands and quit, I just keep believing in myself and somehow I am able to push through another day.

Jessica , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Jessica the owner of a unique Photo Booth business that features a 55inch touchscreen mirror that takes photos. Since March of this year, I have been offering an interactive and fun experience for events, where guest can take photos, print them out on site, and share memories in a new, exciting way. My mission is to not only to provide an unforgettable experience but also to create a legacy for my family.
“I have had a long journey to get to this point. For many years, I worked in nursing, where I built a strong foundation of discipline, compassion, and dedication. But after 18 years, I have reached a point where the physical demands of nursing became too much for me. Around that time, I realized that in order to change my life and provide for my family in a way that would truly fulfill me, I needed to pursue something that made me happy.
That’s when I found my passion for interactive technology and the joy of helping others create special memories. It was a leap, but it was one I needed to make for myself and my family.”
I offer an innovative, 55inch touchscreen mirror that serves as a Photo Booth for events. Guest can take high-quality photos, customize their prints, and share them instantly. The mirror itself is. a stylish and interactive experience that adds a fun, modern touch to any occasion. It’s’ not just about taking a picture-it’s about creating moments that last a lifetime.
“I solve the problem of traditional photo booths that can feel outdated or uninspiring. My touchscreen mirror offers a fresh interactive alternative that stands out at events like weddings, parties, and corporate gatherings. What set’s me apart is not just the unique, high-tech nature of the mirror, but my commitment to providing exceptional experiences. I’m not just offering a service; I’m giving people the chance to capture memories in a new and exciting way that reflects my passion for creativity and fun.
“I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come in such a short time. The courage it took to transition from nursing to running my own business was huge, but it’s been worth every challenge. I’m especially proud of being able to create something that makes me happy and has the potential to leave a legacy for my family. The business is not just about making money-it’s about making a meaningful impact and ensuring that my children have something to carry forward.”
“I want people to know that the business is deeply personal to me. It’s about more than just a Photo Booth; it’s about creating lasting memories and making every event special. I’ve put my heart and soul into this because it’s not just a business to me-it’s my chance to build a legacy for my family and provide something that I’m proud of. I am dedicated to giving clients an unforgettable experience, and I want to be known for my commitment, creativity, and the positive energy I bring to every event.”

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I came up with initial capital to start my business by being a homeowner and being able to refinance our home. I have struggled with keeping up with the over-head cost of everything but things recently have looked more promising with some events I have done and am scheduled to do in the near future.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was a nursing assistant for 18yrs. Sometimes it felt like nursing was all I knew how to do and was stuck in that career. Physically and sometimes emotionally nursing became too much for me to do anymore so I did a little research and thought I was starting a turn key business which later I found out that, that wasn’t the case.
From thinking I had no other option at times and finding out being a business owner came with so much more than just taking over a business already built for you I found out the hard way that I had to start from the bottom. I did both jobs but found myself working to pay for a business not generating anything.
I knew then that I needed to keep being resilient and finding a way to make my company happen because not only did I want this to work, I needed this to work. When I put full days, and weeks into the business I started generating money. I am now just focusing on brushing myself off every time I am knocked down, never forgetting my resilience
