Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Angel Griffin is a distinguished performer and entrepreneur, celebrated as a world champion swing dancer, U.S. champion salsa dancer, Guinness World Record holder, and black belt in karate. Her journey into the performing arts began with a passion for dance, leading her to teach high-flying acrobatic lifts internationally. Transitioning naturally into circus arts, she co-founded Firestorm Talent & Entertainment in 2015, aiming to provide world-class performers with exceptional representation.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

My journey from a side hustle to a full-time business owner has been one of vision, adaptability, and innovation. It all started with a practical realization: my performing body wouldn’t last forever, and I needed to create a sustainable career that could grow with me. With years of experience in dance, circus arts, and fire performance, I noticed a gap in the market—so many incredible performers didn’t know how to pitch themselves professionally, and their amazing talents were being overlooked. That’s when I decided to create Firestorm Talent—not just as a booking agency, but as a platform to empower artists to truly shine.

As my business grew, I saw the entertainment industry evolving, with a greater demand for eco-conscious practices. I knew this was the right direction, and I pivoted Firestorm Talent to embrace more renewable and sustainable approaches in both operations and performances. Along the way, I hit some key milestones, like building a strong network of performers and clients, offering innovative and sustainable entertainment solutions, and positioning Firestorm Talent as a leader in combining artistry with responsibility.

Today, Firestorm Talent is thriving, and I couldn’t be prouder. It’s a reflection of my passion for performance, my commitment to supporting fellow artists, and my dedication to creating unforgettable, sustainable experiences for audiences everywhere.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

After years of stepping back from performing, I never imagined I’d find myself back in the circus spotlight—but here I am, rediscovering my passion and pushing my boundaries in ways I never thought possible. For a long time, I had retired from performing, focusing on building my business and supporting other artists. But deep down, the love for performing never truly left me. It was just waiting for the right moment to resurface.

That moment came when I found a partner who reignited my excitement for performing. We connected not just as artists but as collaborators who could trust each other completely—a necessity in our work. Together, we dove into the physically and creatively demanding world of Duo Cyr wheel and Duo Unicycle. These acts require an extraordinary amount of trust and precision, and every moment on stage is a delicate balance of strength, coordination, and harmony.

Returning to the circus feels like coming home. Performing alongside my partner has reminded me of why I fell in love with this world in the first place. It’s exhilarating, humbling, and deeply fulfilling to be back in the spotlight, not just as a performer but as the truest version of myself. This journey has been a testament to the fact that it’s never too late to chase the things that set your soul on fire.
