We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Arenas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
One of my biggest risks was deciding to move to New York to continue growing as an actress, right at one of the most successful moments in my career in Colombia. My manager at the time told me: “You are crazy, you know many people would love to be in your place” he couldn’t understand why I was choosing to start learning English from scratch, at the same time that I left my knowing world. he asked me if I wasn’t afraid about the pause that would come I’d be taking. But my intuition has always been awake and aligned with God’s purpose through me. So, with fear, of course, and not knowing what would come, I simply decided to take action to make real the dream I had been imagining for more than six years.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
“I began my acting studies in 2006, starting with theater, and then decided to move to Bogotá, Colombia, to further my training. Fortunately, with each role I took on, my career continued to grow, allowing me to explore different areas—film, television, and theater,” shares Jennifer. “I’ve had the honor of participating in international series like Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso for Telemundo and Lady, La Vendedora de Rosas for Sony Television. In Colombian cinema, I’ve worked in five films, two of which had notable success in film festivals. “Destinos” ‘ Dog Food”
“In the past five years, I’ve started a new chapter in the United States. I began with short films and eventually had the opportunity to be part of Legal, a feature film directed by Daniel Arango, who is not only a talented director but also my husband,” she says with enthusiasm. In this film, she had the fortune of being both the producer and one of the lead actresses. The story, she explains, follows two artists who come to New York City in pursuit of a dream, only to discover something much deeper: an unbreakable friendship. “Our project has recently begun its journey through film festivals, and we’re working to bring it to theaters and streaming platforms next year. We’re excited to see where this story will take us.”
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
“Yes, it’s like I’m living a second life,” Jennifer says with a warm laugh. “The past four years have been like a deep inner winter—a season of reflection, healing, and rediscovery. During this time, I found myself reflecting on my true purpose, and I came to realize that my journey as an actress and producer is a path toward fulfilling my life’s mission. This mission feels deeply connected to the presence of God.”
Her eyes shine with passion as she continues, “One of the most powerful ways I’m discovering and healing myself is through acting because as actors, we dive deeply into human behavior. In researching and embodying characters, I’m not only exploring others—I’m becoming the person I’m meant to be. Acting has allowed me to grow, to heal, and to embrace layers of myself I didn’t know were there. Through this path, I hold up a mirror for society, but I also hold it up for myself, learning and evolving with each role.”
She adds thoughtfully, “This is why now I’m drawn to roles that offer hope, resilience, strength, and a renewed sense of life’s value. Stories have a unique power to connect us and remind us of our shared humanity. If I can help someone feel seen or understood through my work, then I feel I’m fulfilling my purpose—helping to spread healing, growth, and a sense of possibility.”
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
“From the early days of Facebook, I was already exploring how social media works. But when I first joined Instagram, it was just for fun,” Jennifer shares. “Over time, as my acting journey developed, my followers grew, especially as more people discovered me through the productions I was a part of. It was incredible to see so many people enjoying my work, and I felt immense gratitude, and love with them. As a way to express that appreciation, I try to keep my presence on Instagram to feel genuine and natural, so I started sharing content that felt true to who I am—real, but also thoughtfully put together.”
Jennifer reflects on her approach to social media with intention, and Now my focus is on quality over quantity. is cute to create a connection with my followers that feels honest. And if someone new is starting on social media, especially if they have a message or story they want to share, I believe persistence is key because of the sheer volume of users. But, above all, stay true to yourself. Authenticity is your signature, your unique mark in a crowded space. That’s what resonates most.”
