Hi Marta , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I come from a single-parent household filled with love and adventure. My mother instilled in my sister and me the belief that anything was possible through hard work, focus, and determination. Although we faced financial challenges, we were rich in diverse experiences. She made it a priority to immerse us in our interests outside of school—my sister pursued the performing arts, while I explored art, photography, fashion design, and sculpture. I am forever grateful for my mother’s sacrifices, as they truly changed the trajectory of my life.

Today, I am proud to say that I have overcome significant obstacles and achieved my wildest dreams. I work with an organization dedicated to making a meaningful impact, particularly for small, diverse businesses. Additionally, I am an entrepreneur and have the privilege of serving on the Young Friends Advisory Board for a literacy organization. This journey has been deeply fulfilling, and I look forward to continuing to contribute positively to my community

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

My journey has certainly been anything but smooth! I’ve faced moments of uncertainty about my path, often doubting my abilities and wondering if I would ever achieve my dreams. However, I found that my faith and a shift in my mindset were crucial during these challenging times. They helped me navigate through struggles and stay focused on my goals.

Bloomful Works is an event management firm that recently celebrated six years in business. We specialize in full-service event planning and day-of coordination, focusing on milestone events and weddings. Our clients, whom we affectionately call “Bloomfuls,” know us for our exceptional customer service and the stress-free experiences we provide.

What sets us apart is our personalized approach and keen attention to detail. We believe that every event tells a unique story, and we work closely with our clients to understand their vision and goals. I’m particularly proud of our resilience in staying open during challenging times, as well as our ability to give back to the community during the holiday season.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?

Mentors play a crucial role in both professional and personal growth. When seeking a mentor, start by exploring your existing network and areas of interest. Look for someone with valuable insights and relevant experience that you can learn from. Industry-specific networking events can also be great places to meet potential mentors.

It’s important to approach mentorship as a relationship-building process. Don’t simply ask someone to be your mentor without understanding their background and your own readiness for such a relationship. Consider whether you’re open to feedback and willing to have your thinking challenged.

When I’ve approached individuals to be my mentors, I’ve found it helpful to set realistic expectations and to offer something in return, rather than just making an ask. I am grateful for my mentors who generously share their insights and time, which I consider invaluable.
