Today we’d like to introduce you to Donta Daniels
Hi Donta, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been drawn to creativity for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would act out the endings of my favorite movies, rummage through my mother’s and siblings’ closets to put together unique wardrobes, and host impromptu fashion shows. That early spark of creativity led me to explore other artistic avenues, including music and, eventually, theater.
Theater became a pivotal moment for me. It was where I truly honed my skills in performance and learned the power of commanding a stage. In high school, I had the opportunity to join an art program at Temple University specifically designed for students, which expanded my understanding of creative expression. The experience was so impactful that I later returned as a mentor to guide others through the same program.
Now, I’m channeling all these experiences—whether it’s from theater, fashion, or mentorship—into building my own realm of creativity. I’m crafting a space where I can blend these artistic influences, continuing to grow as an artist and inspire others along the way
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and I think the biggest obstacles I’ve faced were mental. There were times when I doubted whether this artistic path was truly meant for me. Growing up, I didn’t always have the resources, support, or connections that would make pursuing a creative career feel realistic. It felt like the odds were stacked against me at times, and that led to a lot of second-guessing and self-doubt.
I had to overcome the belief that my passion for the arts wasn’t enough, that without a clear road map or external validation, I couldn’t make it. A lot of my journey has been about pushing past those internal barriers, trusting in my creative vision, and learning to create opportunities for myself. It’s been a struggle to balance those doubts with the drive to keep moving forward, but each step I’ve taken has strengthened my confidence and conviction in my craft.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve come to realize that I’m not bound by one medium—I’m the master of all the creative paths I’ve explored, and I don’t have to throw all my eggs in one basket. Right now, I’m in a stage of my life where I want to work, create, and push myself to produce dope shit, no matter the medium.
One of my key focuses is perfecting my clothing brand, We Are Pixxxies. I’m taking time to truly elevate the vision, ensuring that it represents not just fashion, but a creative statement. Beyond that, I’m diving headfirst into editorial modeling, which has been an incredible outlet to showcase my artistic versatility and personal style. I’m also networking with other creatives, stepping into the role of creative director to help bring their visions to life.
What sets me apart is my ability to wear multiple hats and not limit myself to one path. I’m most proud of the fact that I can flow between different mediums—whether it’s fashion, modeling, or creative direction—and bring a unique, multifaceted approach to everything I touch. My creative vision is fluid, and I thrive in pushing boundaries and exploring new ways to express myself artistically
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see a huge shift towards creative versatility and multi-disciplinary artists. People are no longer being confined to just one lane. More individuals, like myself, are embracing the fact that we can be fashion designers, models, creative directors, and more—all at the same time. I think the future will continue to celebrate those who can move fluidly between different mediums and industries.
In terms of fashion, I see a push toward more independent, niche brands. Consumers are becoming more selective, looking for brands that represent unique values and authentic stories. We Are Pixxxies is rooted in that philosophy—creating a brand that isn’t just about clothing but about self-expression and individuality, which is where I believe fashion is heading.
In the modeling world, especially editorial modeling, I see a shift away from traditional standards. There’s more room for diverse, unconventional beauty, and people who bring their own story and style to the forefront. This is going to continue opening doors for creatives like me who blend multiple artistic expressions.
Creative direction will also evolve. Collaboration between different creatives is becoming essential as we see more artists, designers, and brands working together to bring fresh ideas to life. Overall, the trend is toward breaking boundaries, embracing individuality, and seeing more voices rise to the top—especially those who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo
