Today we’d like to introduce you to Antoinette Johnson
Hi Antoinette, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve worked in the entertainment industry as a fashion stylist and creative director for a few years. I started as a content creator, posting plus-size content and hosting body-positive events across the city. After being introduced to a creative director and being asked on the spot to shoot an editorial, I realized my love for styling and never looked back. There have been so many opportunities where I have worked with various talents and projects since my first shoot, getting to do cool stuff like style for fashion weeks, red carpets, music videos, Major music festivals, etc. With work featured in Complex, Billboard, Rolling Stones, and HBO Max.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
People don’t realize that it’s up to you to secure clients and always bring in work for yourself as a freelancer. You can have months where no one is booking your services. A lot of these times, I would have to become creative in searching for new clients, Pitching myself to potential and then once I secured said client, proving that I have what it takes to bring their vision and style to life. I am blessed to continue working and creating new relationships with my clients where they allow me to use my expertise and elevate their style.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I run a 2x award-nominated creative agency called Forever Anti Studio, where we specialize in celebrity styling, creative direction and talent management. We develop and create a vision that aligns with our clients and attracts the right audience to their brand. The agency has worked on various projects like film/TV, press appearances (including red carpets and television interviews), runway, photoshoots and album rollouts. I had the incredible opportunity to style Omega Mighty for the Billboard CA Women in Music red carpet in September. It was my first time working on such a major event, and I was nervous because I didn’t want to mess it up. But when my client stepped onto the carpet in a silver hooded dress that instantly brought to mind Whitney Houston’s iconic look from The Bodyguard, I got chills. That moment was my proudest so far. My unique approach to understanding my clients has allowed them to be more expressive and confident in whatever room they walk in. That confidence is why I love fashion in the first place and I make sure that each client not only looks but feels good.
