Today we’d like to introduce you to Piero Manrique

Hi Piero, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

My inspiration comes from the many lively and vibrant gatherings hosted by my big Latin-American family. As an introvert who is not much of a dancer, I gravitated towards observing everyone else. There is something fascinating about watching people who are in their element, letting go without any worries in the world. Do they know what they look like when they’re at their happiest? 14-year old Piero started striving to capture those carefree moments on film.
10 years later, after studying photography at the State University of NY, I had the opportunity to work on my first wedding. Happiness was just one of the many emotions on strong display throughout the day and my job became not only more challenging, but more rewarding. Since then, another decade has passed doing what I enjoy most in life, capturing the most important day of happy couples’ lives through my art.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In the beginning, building a portfolio and finding clients was tough, and competing in such a crowded field felt overwhelming at times. There were moments when I questioned if I could make a sustainable living doing what I love, especially when the financial side of freelance work was uncertain. But every struggle pushed me to grow, but more importantly, the desire to keep doing what I love doing is what pushed me the most.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?

I specialize in documentary wedding photography, capturing the authentic emotions and moments that make each couple’s big day unique. My approach is all about telling the story of the day in a natural and candid way, rather than sticking to posed or staged shots. I’m known for my ability to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera, which helps me capture genuine emotions.
