We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jamez Ingram a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jamez , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
The journey of creating JzFit and Whole Lyph Wellness started with a deeply personal realization: health and well-being aren’t just physical—they’re holistic. The idea came during a moment of reflection, realizing how many people, myself included, were struggling to find balance in life. I wanted to create a space and a movement that empowered people to transform not just their bodies, but their entire lives.
Here’s how I turned that vision into reality:
The Spark
The idea struck me while observing the fitness industry. It felt one-dimensional, focusing mostly on physical appearance rather than overall wellness. I wanted to combine fitness training with mental and emotional health—a total life transformation. The concept of JzFit, focusing on personalized physical training, and Whole Lyph Wellness, addressing holistic well-being, was born.
That night, I couldn’t sleep. I started jotting down ideas: what the programs could look like, how they’d stand out, and the kind of experience I wanted clients to have.
The Next Day
The very next day, I started researching. I read about the fitness market, wellness trends, and how to integrate these ideas. I also reflected on my own fitness journey and how it connected to mental health. That became my foundation: a program that goes beyond physical transformation to embrace the whole person.
First Steps: Education and Planning
I realized I needed to expand my knowledge to build credibility. I pursued certifications in fitness training, nutrition, and holistic health coaching. At the same time, I started drafting a business plan—outlining services, pricing, and the kind of client experience I wanted to create.
JzFit would focus on one-on-one and small group training, while Whole Lyph Wellness would offer workshops, mindfulness coaching, and online resources. This dual approach felt like the perfect balance.
Building the Brand
Branding was crucial. I wanted names that resonated deeply:
• JzFit captured the high-energy, driven aspect of fitness training.
• Whole Lyph Wellness reflected the idea of living a full, vibrant life.
I worked with a designer to create logos, crafted mission statements, and started building an online presence. The first steps were humble—social media pages and a simple website—but it gave me a way to connect with people and start spreading the word.
Testing and Feedback
Before fully launching, I tested my concepts. I offered free or discounted personal training sessions to friends and family through JzFit, while Whole Lyph Wellness piloted small workshops focused on stress management and nutrition. Their feedback helped refine my offerings.
Logistics and Setup
Behind the scenes, there were countless tasks:
• Securing gym space for JzFit sessions.
• Setting up virtual platforms for Whole Lyph Wellness workshops.
• Creating liability waivers, scheduling systems, and a customer relationship management process.
I also partnered with local wellness practitioners, like massage therapists and dieticians, to offer a more comprehensive approach.
The Launch
The launch was both thrilling and nerve-wracking. For JzFit, I hosted an open house at the gym where I trained, offering free fitness assessments and mini workouts. For Whole Lyph Wellness, I ran a free online webinar on building healthier habits.
The response was incredible—people connected with the holistic approach and appreciated the personalized care. That initial momentum gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward.
The Journey Forward
From that point on, it’s been about consistency and growth. I’ve refined programs, expanded services, and built a loyal community of clients who embrace both fitness and wellness as part of their lives.
Creating JzFit and Whole Lyph Wellness was more than starting a business—it was building a mission to help others live their best lives.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

The journey of building JzFit and Whole Lyph Wellness taught you invaluable lessons that go beyond business and resonate in life. Here are the key takeaways:
1. Clarity Comes Through Action
You learned that you don’t need to have everything figured out at the start. The path became clearer as you moved forward. Researching, testing ideas, and taking small steps helped you refine your vision and gain confidence. The lesson? Start where you are, and clarity will follow.
2. Authenticity Connects
You realized the importance of staying true to your purpose. Your personal connection to wellness and your desire to help others transform their lives made your business relatable and impactful. People resonate with authenticity, and that connection builds trust.
3. Listen to Feedback
Your willingness to test your services and gather feedback was a game-changer. It showed you the value of being adaptable. Listening to your audience not only improved your offerings but also deepened your understanding of their needs.
4. Patience and Persistence
Building two complementary brands was no overnight success. There were moments of doubt and times when progress felt slow. But you learned that staying patient and consistent, even when results weren’t immediate, would eventually pay off.
5. Focus on the Bigger Picture
By addressing holistic wellness, you embraced
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivoting JzFit and Whole Lyph Wellness to fit your clients’ needs and the ever-changing landscape of health and wellness was a journey of adaptation and creativity. Here’s how you adjusted to meet challenges and continue growing:
1. Embracing Virtual Services
When in-person training and workshops faced disruptions (such as during the pandemic or other logistical challenges), you pivoted to offer virtual options. JzFit added online personal training sessions, while Whole Lyph Wellness shifted to hosting webinars, virtual mindfulness sessions, and online wellness challenges.
This not only expanded your reach but also taught you that flexibility is essential. Clients appreciated the convenience, and you learned how to deliver value remotely.
2. Adjusting to Market Demand
Initially, you may have focused heavily on one aspect, such as fitness training or wellness workshops. Over time, you noticed clients wanted more integrated programs—where fitness, nutrition, and mindset were all addressed in one cohesive plan.
You pivoted by creating bundled programs that combined JzFit training sessions with Whole Lyph Wellness coaching, offering a more comprehensive approach to health transformation.
3. Broadening Your Audience
At first, your ideal client might have been a specific demographic—young professionals or fitness enthusiasts. Over time, you realized a wider audience could benefit from your services, including busy parents, older adults, and those new to fitness or wellness.
You adjusted your messaging, creating programs tailored to these groups. For instance, Whole Lyph Wellness introduced stress-management workshops for working parents, while JzFit added low-impact fitness options for older clients.
4. Scaling Through Group Offerings
One-on-one coaching and training are powerful but can limit scalability. To accommodate growing demand, you pivoted by offering group fitness classes and wellness workshops. These allowed you to serve more people at once while maintaining the personalized feel that your brand is known for.
5. Leveraging Partnerships
You learned that collaborating with other professionals could fill gaps and expand your offerings. By partnering with dietitians, therapists, or other fitness experts, you were able to provide specialized services under the Whole Lyph Wellness umbrella—like meal planning add-ons or mental health support.
6. Shifting to a Subscription Model
Realizing that clients valued consistency, you introduced subscription packages. For JzFit, this might include monthly training plans or access to an online workout library. For Whole Lyph Wellness, it could mean ongoing access to workshops, mindfulness sessions, or wellness content.
This pivot created a steady income stream and increased client retention by fostering long-term relationships.
7. Simplifying Your Offerings
Early on, you may have tried to offer everything—from advanced training techniques to niche wellness workshops. Over time, you realized that simplicity often works better. You streamlined your services to focus on what clients valued most: sustainable fitness plans, practical wellness tools, and supportive coaching.
8. Going Local and Community-Focused
You also leaned into your local community by hosting events like fitness challenges, wellness fairs, and collaborations with nearby businesses. This created a loyal, engaged client base and strengthened your brand’s reputation locally.
9. Responding to Feedback
You constantly adapted based on client feedback. For example:
• Adding shorter, 30-minute workouts for time-strapped clients.
• Including more accessible wellness practices for beginners.
• Creating digital tools, like meal prep guides or progress trackers, to enhance the overall experience.
10. Aligning with Trends
Staying relevant meant pivoting to align with wellness trends, such as:
• Offering functional fitness training.
• Incorporating mindfulness and meditation practices.
• Providing eco-conscious products and advice to appeal to the growing demand for sustainability in wellness.
By staying adaptable and listening to your clients, you turned challenges into opportunities and ensured JzFit and Whole Lyph Wellness could evolve while staying true to your mission.
