We recently connected with Cody Guerra and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Cody thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I always had thing for music growing up around my dad he would always listen to classic rock rock and roll and some country music in between all this goes back to when I was a kid but to keep it short and simple I had to live a lot of life to get to where I am I’ve lived the songs that I write 2004 is when I wanted to pursue writing and learning how to play music I started writing poetry at first it was a coping mechanism for me I put down all my hurt all my anger I lost my older brother and my nephew that year I’m sure you can read between the lines music saved me today I’m humble calm and collective I’ve never been so liberated in my life it’s a blessing today to enjoy family music and friends

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Born December 13 1989 in weatherford tx raised in springtown tx I’m a small town kid the one thing I would want others to know is to never give up on self follow your dreams even if that means you gotta walk alone sometimes I’ve went through a lot of ups and downs through out my life the difference between others is my music wasn’t a hobby it became life it was a coping mechanism for me it saved me I love to enjoy the simple things in life fishin hunting being with family the outdoors is where I prefer to be

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Well let’s see I lived a very fast life style went through a lot of ups and downs one thing for sure I never gave up on myself I had gotten myself into some trouble I did five years of my life on a prison farm out in El Paso tx I’d had finally hit bottom I was already tired of the life that I already been living I told myself that something good was gonna come outta of it and it did it made me the strong person that I am today I’m a success some will say I’m a walking talking testimony

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
