We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimberly Gordon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Kimberly , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
I have always managed my own social media. I spent a lot of time researching the utilization of hashtags & learned from what others seemed to have been doing right. I’m not at 100’s of thousands of followers but I can say I’ve invested time in growing authentically & organically.
Kimberly , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Kimberly Gordon aka Chef Kay is a Private Chef in Florida. She comes from a big family of Southern & Creole cooks. She left her Corporate America career to pursue her passion for cooking. She attended the University of South Florida for her Bachelor’s in Communication and Valencia College for Culinary Management. She started her own catering business in 2013 called Good Enuf 2 Eat Catering. Since then she has had the honor of cooking for professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, and PGA. She has also cooked for actors, comedians, & reality tv stars. In 2015, she became a part of #TeamChefRLI working under Chef Richard Ingraham, Dwayne Wade’s Private Chef. She was also awarded #1 Nutritional Counselor in Orlando for 2015-19 by Thumbtack. In 2020, she was selected to be one of the premier Chefs to cook in the NBA Bubble. She has been flown across the nation to cater events for exclusive clientele. Chef Kay is living in her purpose & remains humbled by her growth. Sky isn’t the limit…the stars are!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Covid came at a very scary time in my business! Catering is all about people coming together to celebrate life events & share in food and drink! Covid also brought about the NBA Bubble! I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in The Bubble Experience and had a NBA player to cook for the entire time!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social media has been pivotal in establishing my clientele! It is also how I came up with the name of my business: Good Enuf 2 Eat! A picture is worth a thousand words…and it was my mission to learn how to take memorable pictures of my food…detail by detail!
