We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sacia Ashe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sacia, thanks for joining us today. We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today.
If I were starting my agency over again from scratch, I would invest less in business education and more into my actual skills. While understanding business is very important, one of the biggest differentiation factors you can carve out in the service-based industry is above-average skill level paired with great communication. I invested heavily into my business and marketing skills too early on, when looking back my time would’ve been better spent improving my craft, networking, and gaining as many strong case studies as possible.
I would also focus more on making connections. Your network is truly your net worth nowadays, and it’s worth the time to go to in-person events. The connections I have got me to where I am now and continue to be one of the top ways we grow as an agency.

Sacia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Sacia, and I’m the founder of Ashe Design Haus, an independent creative agency specializing in brand, packaging, and Shopify website design. We help mission-driven business create impact at scale through the power of visuals paired with strategic thinking.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The biggest mission driving my creative and entrepreneurial journey is glorifying God through my work. As a Christ believer, it’s really important to me that my business gives back consistently and has a tangible impact on the world. Raising the capital and having the time-freedom to be charitable with my time, serve within my church and community, and devote time to my faith is my strongest driver and the reason I feel like I’m able to get through anything the business world throws at me.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing my art help passionate founders spread their mission and vision. It’s a truly emotional moment when a business owner gets to visualize everything they’ve been dreaming about into reality, and as a creative it’s fulfilling to help in that process. It’s also rewarding to see my creativity “at work” to help the world and people I interact with.
