Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vigil. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Vigil, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Songwriting has been and continues to be the most meaningful and healing project we are continuing to work on. When we started writing music together, we found ourselves in a time of heartache and questioning. So, we began to process those feelings and thoughts through writing. From 2018-present, we’ve written songs about waiting on promises, trusting God when it feels He isn’t present, or reminding ourselves to not fall for someone who shows nothing but red flags. All of it has led us to places of joy, experiencing healing to our hearts/minds and helped us grow closer as friends.

Vigil, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are a local pop; alternative pop; worship; contemporary Christian; soul music duo. We began as two best friends leading worship together at our local church. Now, we are pursuing a dream of writing and sharing our music with the world.
We made out official debut under the name Vigil in September of 2020 in the city of Lewisville, TX playing local coffee shops, wine houses, and small events. We have since played at a variety of different locations all across the DFW Metroplex where we sing covers as well as original music that we have written together. We are currently booking gigs for public events, private events, worship events, small venues, weddings, demo recordings, lead & background vocals.
What sets Vigil apart from other bands, is that we are known well within our communities as a duo that is honest in who we are and believes in telling a story with everything we sing/write.
Most of the things we are most proud of consist of songwriting with influential worship groups and performing for large crowds. Morgan has had the pleasure to write with Maverick City Music on a song called “Still Holy” and attended the Bethel Music songwriting practicum in Nashville. Josh has written and been featured on 6 albums and 9 individuals singles. He has also performed for crowds of 4000+ in the United States and South Africa. Currently, Josh is part of a songwriting collective called Artisian Writers. Together, we have been the opening act for a local summer music festival called “Sounds of Lewisville”. We’ve also released two songs called “What You Came For” and “Manifest”.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Seeing how your music impacts people has been the biggest reward. We have had the privilege of hearing how our songs have helped people feel seen, understood and become inspired within different areas of their lives.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Both of us have a passion to have our songs and voices heard. So, what drives us is to see that dream come to full fruition.
