We recently connected with Arya Samrit and have shared our conversation below.
Arya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
From an early age, I have been driven by an innate curiosity, always seeking to understand the “what,” “why,” and “how” behind things. My journey into audio engineering began at the age of 16 when my interest in electronic music led me to enroll in a certificate course to grasp the fundamentals—ranging from software mechanics to the physics of sound. This passion ultimately brought me to Full Sail University in Florida, where I began honing my craft. Now I am a graduate student at NYU looking to learn more about the depths of audio.
While my formal education provided a solid foundation in my chosen field, my most valuable lessons have come from hands-on, real-world experience. Practical work environments offer insights and challenges that academic settings can only simulate. In real-life situations, I developed essential skills that go beyond technical knowledge—learning to manage high-pressure tasks, collaborate with diverse personalities, and adapt quickly to dynamic circumstances.
Of all the lessons I’ve absorbed, the importance of interpersonal skills stands out as the most crucial for success. Technical proficiency and expertise can only take you so far; professionalism, effective communication, and respect for colleagues are key differentiators in any team setting. The music industry, in particular, is filled with varied personalities and unique working conditions. Navigating these complexities remains a personal challenge, but it has also been a significant driver of my growth and development.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an audio engineer from India who is passionate about creating immersive sonic experiences. My journey into the world of audio began with my deep love for music, which was sparked at a young age when I started playing the tabla, an Indian classical percussion instrument. Over the past decade, I’ve honed my skills as a tabla player, and this strong foundation in rhythm and sound and my interest in technology drew me toward audio engineering.
Over the last three years, I’ve worked as a recording, mixing, and live audio engineer. My experiences range from working at renowned studios like Criteria Recording Studios in Miami to freelancing as a stagehand and recording engineer. Currently, I’m pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Technology at NYU to refine my craft further.
I offer various audio services, including recording, mixing, and live sound engineering Whether I’m in a studio crafting a mix or behind a console at a live event, my goal is always to capture and enhance the emotional essence of the sound. My services extend beyond technical expertise; I provide creative input to bring artists’ visions to life through sonic sculpting while ensuring top-notch audio quality.
Clients often come to me seeking clarity and depth in their sound. Whether it is removing technical imperfections, balancing complex arrangements, or creating impactful live mixes, I strive to elevate their projects. My understanding of Western and Indian music gives me a unique perspective, allowing me to blend traditional and modern sounds seamlessly.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge artistry with technical precision. My background in Indian classical music gives me an innate understanding of rhythm and dynamics, while my professional experience equips me with cutting-edge technological skills. Apart from my technical skills, I like to work with my clients personally to make them comfortable with their creative selves.
Moreover, my attention to detail, reliability, and collaborative approach ensures that my clients feel heard and supported throughout their creative process.
My work is driven by a love for storytelling through sound. I’m constantly experimenting with new techniques, drawing inspiration from genres like EDM and drum and bass, as well as artists like Fred again. For me, every project is an opportunity to innovate, push boundaries, and create something meaningful.
Whether you’re an artist, producer, or event organizer, my mission is to collaborate with you to craft unforgettable audio experiences. Let’s bring your vision to life and make it resonate with the world.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I am a child at heart. I like to play and experiment with everything that I have around me. Working with sound, for me, is like playing with sonic play dough. I get to build sonic soundscapes when I am mixing or recording and I have complete control over how it is going to sound. it is the most rewarding part of my job. It is especially rewarding when I can completely understand what the client wants and can deliver on the sound that they spend all of their blood sweat and tears sculpting.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by a desire to connect people through the power of sound, crafting experiences that resonate emotionally and transcend cultural boundaries. Innovation and storytelling are at the heart of my work, whether I’m producing a mix, engineering a recording, or mixing a live performance. Ultimately, my mission is to help artists and creators bring their visions to life, transforming their ideas into impactful audio experiences that leave a lasting impression. My mission is to always make the music speak beyond the notes that are being played.
