We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Casey Finch a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Casey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I feel like one of the major defining moments in my career is when i made the shift from luxury Aesthetics and Educating into the Medical Asethetics field. I quickly learned how transformative the results could be for my patients when i merged holistic touch with advanced medical modalities. The synergy i felt from blending all of my backgrounds together felt like puzzle pieces connecting! it helped push me from my comfort zone of being less aggressive with treatments, but the holistic approach still lingering in the back of my head keeps me from over treating the skin as well! Most Aestheticians typically fall on one side or the other. i think bringing them together in practice is a secret weapon! My luxury background was all about the patients experience and how we could make them feel and look their best when they walk out the door, medical is more geared to how great of a result can we get you. I truly think you can achieve both and your clients will never look back !Not all Medical treatments have to feel sterile and like youre at a doctors office adding in a simple massage can make your patient feel catered to and more pampered all while having health benefits like increased circulation, lymph drainage and facial sculpting. The beauty of it is patients who have only experienced “Relaxing/ Holistic Facials” will fall in love with the greater improvements their seeing in their skin that only a laser or peel can get you. while Clients used to cut and dry slap a peel on the face and tell you goodbye medical in and out services will appreciate a slower hands on approach , massage , the relaxing ambiance that they most likely arent getting even though they enjoy their “Fast results” Its been so fulfulling to get to witness not only dramatic changes in skin but the confidence you see come to someones eyes when they see the changes themselves.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
In 2015 i stepped into the world of Aesthetics right after highschool with a promise to my dad that i would go to college right after, that never happened, the second i got to School i knew it was the career for me. After about 2 years in the industry and becoming an expert on brow symmetry, i decided to go back to school to pursue becoming an educator for the field i loved so much! I wanted to share my love with aspiring estys and help them achieve their dreams of getting into our industry, However as fulfilling as educating was i realized how much i missed my hands on interactions with my patients. The joy of the impact i made on skin was something i couldnt set aside. I transitioned back into solely taking clients in a luxuxry setting for years. This time i immersed myself in the art of manually lifting the facial muscles and holistic approaches to skin. Around this time i began struggling personally with broken capillaries and chronic redness in my skin. i had thousands of dollars worth of tools in my regimens arsenal alone but my redness just wasnt controllable. IPL then changed my life in many ways ! it was the first time i started to feel comfortable in my own skin again as i spent all day making others feel comfortable in theirs and then inspired the idea of a transition in my career. i wanted to help people MORE, in bigger ways. This ignited my excitement for advanced medical ttreatments and opened the door for me to become a now Medical Aesthetician and laser Specialist.
The spa im a provider at – Novella Form & Facial truly embodies everything i believe in about merging all types of aesthetics to give each patient a one of a kind experience WITH Great results. Im blessed to be part of a team that shares the same goals and beliefs of wellness being all encompassing. A place like this is few and far between in todays industry. Because of my background in education i feel like a strength i have is helping patients with deeper understanding on how their skin actually functions, in return this helps me provide better results because they’re naturally then more involved and dedicated to their journey when properly informed. its like whitening teeth won’t help much if theyre not brushing at home, the same goes for esthetic results. Once a petient learns that importance the skys the limit with what we can help them achieve. I don’t believe in gatekeeping everyone should be entitled to the information of how to heal and take care of their body’s largest organ. a way i would love to circle back to educating would now be to get into continuing education for estheticians on the merging of different esthetic practices and the functions of the skin on more of a granular level.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to relearn after years of having more of a holistic approach to skin that aggressive treatments aren’t always damaging and scary, i was almost scarred myself by all the botched skin barriers i had to help build back up. When done correctly Deeper treatments are controlled and can be transformative. ITs all about finding a responsible and thoroughly EDUCATED provider!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Consistency, patience and proof. Estheticians typcially within the first few years choose to be in it for the long haul or they redirect their career and realize it may not be for them. I never strayed from our industry and stayed patient while building books and reputability. My patients are walking billboards for me and still to this day word of mouth holds so much weight in what draws people to you as a provider. inspiring a little of your passion and instilling it into your patients is the best way to make them your biggest cheerleader!
