Today we’d like to introduce you to Qianwen Chen
Qianwen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career right after graduating from Carnegie Mellon in 2012, diving into mobile development at Branding Brand. Later, I joined Vlocity as the Founding Mobile Engineer, where I played a key role in its $1.33 billion acquisition by Salesforce in 2020.
Beyond tech, I’ve always been passionate about community-building, growing an online following of 70,000 and collaborating with brands like YSL and Toyota. This all led to founding EchoHer, where I’m focused on empowering women entrepreneurs and building supportive, impactful communities.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it hasn’t been smooth at all. I’m constantly trying to figure myself out. I’ve always loved art and actually wanted to be a fashion designer at first. For a while, I even questioned if being a Software Engineer was the right path for me.
And then there were the doubts from people around me. I’ve had people tell me I wasn’t good enough. Even when I started EchoHer, someone straight-up said I didn’t have the credibility or resources to make it happen. Those moments were hard, but they really pushed me to keep going and prove that I could do it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about EchoHer?
EchoHer is dedicated to empowering women and non-binary individuals in entrepreneurship. Our mission is to increase women’s representation in business, tech, and investing—where they’ve traditionally been underrepresented. We provide a platform for founders and funders to connect, share resources, and grow together. From monthly events and workshops to pitch nights and panels, we offer many opportunities to network, learn, and collaborate.
What sets us apart is our focus on community. We don’t just offer events—we create relationships that help women lift each other and succeed together. I’m incredibly proud of the impact we’ve made so far. We’ve built a network of over 1,800 women, hosted more than 27 events, and it’s just the beginning.
EchoHer is known for amplifying women’s voices and creating real growth opportunities, whether through funding, mentorship, or just providing a supportive space. At the core, we’re about helping women thrive in areas where they’ve historically been overlooked. If you want to be part of a community focused on increasing women’s representation and helping each other succeed, EchoHer is the place to be.
What were you like growing up?
I was very Aquarius + ENFJ. I’ve always had this curious, adventurous energy—constantly wanting to try new things and explore the world. I love traveling and getting out of my comfort zone. That’s where I get a lot of my inspiration. For me, it’s important to find organic inspiration, whether that’s through new experiences, art, or just being in nature.
Cooking has always been a big part of my life, too. It’s something that really grounds me and helps me stay calm. It’s almost like a form of meditation. And, honestly, I still watch a lot of animals! They kind of bring me a sense of wonder and peace.
